That server had a lot of data moved off it over the last week, and was accepting uploads for a day or two at the end of last week, before rapidly becoming filled up again.

As to when it will again be looked at, it's now 12.40 am on Monday, UK time.
The project people won't start work for another 8 hours or so.

And as soon as it's emptied again, it'll rapidly fill up again. :(

Watch the News and Announcements thread at the top of Number crunching for real information. Everything until then is just 'best guess'.

Well now I have 2 WU's which refuse to upload. How long can this go on before they are cancelled?

(How long does it take to move a few TB's of data off the server I ask myself...hardly any time at all on my machine, so what's the problem at CPDN?)

Dear Ex Brit:

Chill out. I’ve got 5 regional models waiting to upload there 13 zip files. If you are using the 6.10.XX version of the boinc manager then the deadline in 90 days. If your are still using one of the “5” versions then the deadline is 14 days.

The problem at cpdn, is that the servers are scattered all over the university site, in whatever building/department had spare cabinet space at the time.
And data needs to be moved over the university network, which is a slow process, taking several days at times, especially if the programs fail over night.

However, climateapps1 is currently working, but possibly under load from incoming data.

Are your models being uploaded?

Oh I'm chilling...;-) Have had several upload efforts but at 100% they fail...slowly getting there. Thanks for clarifying the deadline as I had read elsewhere regarding the 14 day one. Mine is 90 days so that's fine.

Shouldn't the pool for uploads be increased? It seem like it fills in only a couple'o hours — and it's always full when I'm trying to upload out here on the West Coast of North America... (always in my AM, 1300-1800 GMT)

Something does need to be done. In the most recent, all to brief, up period I was able to upload only 1 of 5 13.zip files sitting in my transfer tab. By tomorrow I will have another one. I know that server was getting pounded by all those 13zip files created in the last 2 weeks, but, at this rate I will never get then all uploaded.

It's not a pool, it's a raid 5 hard disk system. And the data needs to be moved manually.

This post by Milo on our php board explains the problem.

Three posts by Jonathan Miller on the matter:

Here and also here
These 2 may seem the same, but are slightly different, so please read both.

The issue with servers being full, down, under maintenance, etc. etc. is not confined to CPDN alone. All my other projects have suffered from the same malaise from time to time.

My concern was with BOINC data submission deadlines and that has been answered satisfactorily by Jim.

If you are using the 6.10.XX version of the boinc manager then the deadline in 90 days. If your are still using one of the “5” versions then the deadline is 14 days.
