On both machines, I just got Scheduler request completed however both were followed by

Server can't find key file.

Don't know if this is just teething while things come back on line or if it needs attention tomorrow morning.

I got this message as well but when reporting a failed task with 'Computation error' after 10 hours. (Task 15909267) It's showing up on the server as 'In Progress'.

Is this likely to get cleared up by the system or does it need to be aborted?

Regards

I also received this message. I would think it has something to do server-side, but who knows. I have no CPDN tasks at the moment.

The Trickle function and Server Status page are not yet operative. Andy is working on it...

Server can't find key file.

Same here, a Job with computation error "stucks" in my Queue, the Scheduler request succeeded, but the Job is still shown in Tasks

Supporting BOINC, a great concept !

So glad to see that so many people have the same problem I have. Now I can be patient again...
Credit total is updated on account page which appears up to date. It is just the Boinc manager that still gives trouble.

Lucky you, when I go in to my account, my computers say they haven't had contact sense July 30th.

So, we wait.

Haven't looked on account pages since things started coming back up again. If it were up to me, getting the information back to the people who pay Oxford to have us crunch would be the first priority. Once all the information is coming back in and going back out to the researchers, then the rest would be looked at.

I had two models crash during the downtime (no idea why, it's been rock solid until now). I've been checking every few minutes in hope that the problem is fixed, so my home PC can connect & upload the error logs...

Hi,

My project ended with "computation Error" at about 50% complete and after 292 hours of CPU Time!
It is currently stuck in status "Trickle Up message pending" and has been since the server went off air for mtc. The server shows it (Task 15870760) as "In Progress"

Is there a fix for this or will I have to Abort it? If it doesn't get sorted soon it will not be completed by the deadline anyway.

Check the news page. The server is being worked on, but is old and having problems. When it is back up it will accept the trickels and you will get credit for the part completed.

At 50% there is a good chance that another computer will be able to run it correct, most of us have had that happen and have completed ones that others had problems with.

The only bad part is that BOINC will delete it from your system after a certin number of try's to upload, think that it is 100 try's. With the other projects that I have running I have to keep mine connected. That i7 runs through the Simap units fast.

Would be good if we could turn the network off for one project but not the others but that is just dreaming. I would be happy to do half of a model before reporting.

Same message here, 'server can't find key file'.
Trying to report a completed task for weeks, not to mention, pending trickle up message for another job running.

Hi Guys,
Check out "News & Announcements'

astroWX tells us :-
Problems are larger than initially thought. Currently, Climateapps2 isn't processing
Trickles nor requests to check Server Status. Andy is working on it.

Les Bayliss tells us :-
Climateapps2, the BOINC server, is still having problems.
It's very old, and is having difficulty remembering to keep all of it's volumes mounted.

Plans are under way to retire it, but in the meantime, it will help to keep it up and running if
people minimise their poking and prodding. e.g. constantly looking at the server status for
work, trying to upload data, (if it's possible, keep the Network set to off), etc.

We can best help by doing as he asks.

As posted in the News and Announcements thread at the top of this section of the board, the BOINC server has been having problems for the past few weeks, and has now been replaced.
There are still some teething problems with the new server which are being worked on, so people will have to wait a little longer.

Oops
Dave got there before me. :)

I would just like to give a big pat on the back to the project team at climateprediction.net and to thank all of the crew for all your long hours of hard work.

I'll agree with that. I think I've caused as many issues for them recently with WUs not downloading properly and then on to my old SSE1 system as well. Hopefully with the new server we can all get back to useful work. I can do science me!!

It must be frustrating to have work and then not be able to upload it but chin up people there seems to be light ahead.

Zip files, at least for full resolution ocean models seem to be going through now.

Magic! My system has just completed its trickles and has successfully downloaded one new hadcm3n model which is now running. But the hadam3p eu and pnw models which were being sent at the same time all failed in the download.

I add my regards to the project team for their supreme efforts over the last few weeks of difficulty. Well done.

You are getting better guys. My faster machine just tried to download 4 WUs. Two are listed as download failed, but, the other 2 are listed as ready to start. Good going! I think that the trapped trickles are also gone.
