After a crash caused, I suspect, by an Nvidia graphics driver, CPDN and another project were missing from the Project tab in Boinc Manager, even though their files are still present in the BOINC Program Data folder. Error messages in the BM log read: 3/16/2015 6:50:20 PM | | [error] Couldn't parse account file account_climateprediction.net.xml 3/16/2015 6:50:20 PM | | [error] Couldn't parse account file account_www.gpugrid.net.xml 3/16/2015 6:50:20 PM | | [error] Couldn't parse statistics_climateprediction.net.xml 3/16/2015 6:50:20 PM | | [error] Couldn't parse statistics_www.gpugrid.net.xml Those referenced XML files are present, but completely empty. What can I do to recover, and what will the consequences be - will I lose my ID or statistics? ID: 1321919 Windows XP x64 |

Unless you have a backup made before the crash there is nothing you can do to recover the lost WUs. Try reattaching to the missing projects and see if they send new work. Good luck. |

not sure how it works on other projects but assuming you still have your id details for CPDN all you will lose stats wise is credit for work done since last trickle up on each task running so very little in the grand scheme of things. |

Rather than re-attach to the project, which might cause multiple host instances, just try stopping BOINC, closing it then restarting it. You should not need to reboot but as it may be a driver issue then perhaps a reboot will sort everything out. Conan |

If you do try reattaching you might need to stop BOINC and delete the corrupt account files first. You'll need to reattach as an existing user, using the email address shown on the Change email address page. Alternatively it's fairly easy to regenerate the account files manually. First you'll need to stop BOINC and obtain the following things to rebuild the file:
<account> <master_url>http://climateprediction.net/</master_url> <authenticator>XXXX</authenticator> <project_name>climateprediction.net</project_name> </account> When you restart BOINC you should automatically reattach to the project. Either way you'll retain your ID and your credit and RAC are safe, but the empty statistics file does mean that the historical statistics shown in BOINC Manager will have to start over from your current values. Thank you, Gents - I tried Thyme's route and it worked perfectly! |
