Hi, It would be interesting to setup an estimation module of CO2e emissions generated by the calculations corrected by the PC's location (generic electricity generation blend used) and allow thos running on 100% renewable to state so.
This could also be used to task PCs with less impact first (minimise the project's impact).

If doing that, I would also be interested in targeting machines that would be switched on whether crunching or not. Electricity here is 100% renewable but in UK there is still an effective carbon footprint as my having 100% renewable means someone else is burning carbon for their electricity. That is true even when the panels on our roof are chucking out their max.

This "carbon footprint" idea was looked at way back in the early days of the project, around the turn of the century.

New research on the matter is well outside the remit of the project, and will not get done by cpdn.
