Hi,
I'm nearing the end of my batch and BOINC manager is attempting to download new WU's.

This fails with this error :
"13/10/2015 10:13:27 | climateprediction.net | Bericht van de server: UK Met Office HadAM3P and HadRM3P model with MOSES II and TRIFFID Europe is not available for Windows/x86_64.
"
Translated, it means that these models aren't available for Win x64 or x86.

I suspect this not being the true culprit, but rather a problem with the server ? (unless there are only new WU's available for Linux/Mac of course)

Would it be possible to have a look please ?
(I've got another 39 hours to crunch before drying up :-) )

Many thanks in advance !

Kind Regards,
K.

To understand this, first you need to read this post:
Future weather@home applications will only run on a single operating system: Windows, Linux or Mac - here's why...

Then there's the Server Status page, (5th from the bottom, in the blue menu to the left), which lists what models are currently available, and the related OS.

And according to the server status page, there is only work for Linux boxes at the moment. One or more OS's being without work is not unusual as work is available when the scientists put it out there which may depend on many things, e.g. PHD deadlines etc. Dearth or glut has always been a commen thing on this project and I don't see this changing any time soon!

If they used Virtual Box, like CERN does, all Windows PC could run Linux programs.

This was asked about a few years ago.
The answer was NO. It's being kept as simple as possible to cater for the greatest variety of computers.

All computers can run CERN projects such as vLHC@home,ATLAS@home, CMS-dev and the CERN Challenge, thanks to the use of VirtualBox.

A question regarding this: I've not been allocated any tasks for several days and am repeatedly receiving the message "UK Met Office HadAM3P and HadRM3P model with MOSES II and TRIFFID Europe is not available for Windows/x86_64". I have done a thorough forum search and understand why that model is not available to Windows computers, however the server status page says that there are several other models with tasks available for Windows systems right now. I'm confused as to why my BOINC interface keeps trying to access the one model Windows can't run and won't just get a task from one that it can! I've looked through all my preference settings and can see nothing that would cause this situation. I'm still running WCG and Seti, so at least my computer's not idle, but it'd be nice to figure out why this is happening. Any and all suggestions/advice warmly welcome!

Hello Viv

Welcome to the project.

There's only one model type available at the moment, hadam3prm3pm2t_eu, which is for Linux computers.

Occasionally there may be one or two for Windows, which will be due to someone's Windows computer crashing a model, which then gets re-issued, but there's thousands of Windows machines waiting for just this occurrence, and it gets grabbed in a fraction of a second.
And the Server Status page probably lags a few seconds behind real time.

By coincidence, a few hours ago I made a post here about just this matter.

Don't worry about the double post; it happens a lot of times, when the server is slow to reply, but has already received the message and posted it.
My "trick" when a reply is slow to show up, is to open another browser window, and see if my post IS there. If it is, then I go back to the first window, and if it's still waiting on a reply, I "cancel the upload".
I'll hide your other post.

Thanks for the reply, and for deleting the double post. No problem, I'll wait for more models to become available. It's good to know it wasn't something I'd overlooked in my preferences! Golly, I'm ashamed to have overlooked the thread you directed me to. I blame sleep deprivation, and thank you, that answers all my questions.
