I just tried to attach some machines to the project using the new URL "https://www.cpdn.org/". BOINCmanager shows the project name as "cpdnboinc_dev". I then tried using the old "https://climateprediction.net/" URL, which attaches a project displayed as "climateprediction.net". And that's even more confusing, because I thought the old URLs just redirected to the new www.cpdn.org site. Is something messed up on the server-side, or am I using the wrong URL to attach? |

Strange. "https://climateprediction.net/" is the link used when attaching through boinc, because it goes through the project's main web site. I'll have to ask, but it's the middle of the night there. |

After thought: If those computers have been attached before, there may be residual files, so perhaps a Remove will get rid of them. |

Some more brain cells have just showed up, and pointed out that the project's name in the Projects tab of BOINC Manager is indeed climateprediction.net |

(FWIW, I detached and re-attached just to make sure there was no left over oddness.) Yes, the URL that is automatically populated when using BOINCmanager is "https://climateprediction.net/". But I though we were supposed to be using the new URL now. And the links in the BOINCmanager dialog box can be out of date. And if you are using command line, none of that applies anyway. You have to come up with the URL yourself. And if you are on this site copy/pasting from the URL field, it is www.cpdn.org. Also, it is weird that "https://www.cpdn.org/" attaches to the dev project. Because the URL for the dev project is "https://dev.cpdn.org", which is different obviously. if www.cpdn.org is not the right URL for the main project (still using the legacy address,), it should re-direct to the primary project, not the dev project. But it is clearly re-directing to the dev project. Reno, NV |

Yeah, it's pretty weird. If you aren't logged into this site, the main front page has the right URL to attach to ( https://climateprediction.net/ ). If you are logged in here, the instructions and the right URL aren't there on the main page. It probably should be there either way. |

Yeah, it's pretty weird. If you aren't logged into this site, the main front page has the right URL to attach to ( https://climateprediction.net/ ). I searched around the front page, and also the FAQ page, looking for the URL to use to attach, but couldn't find anything about that. Maybe if I was not already logged in, I could find it? Anyway, I think the project owner needs to straighten this out in the code. Otherwise there are going to be a lot of new and returning folks who either can't attach, or attach to the wrong project. It should be on the https://cpdn.org page when you arrive at it. Andy was notified 4 days ago. Not sure when it was added but it's there now. |

What is on the https://cpdn.org page? To be clear, I am asking about the URL redirect problem, where cpdn.org attaches to the dev project instead of the production project. Reno, NV |

Slight niggle here. It should be: https://www.cpdn.org, with the 3 "w"s. And "what's there now", top right, in the section about the GDPR, is the url to use, in magenta. |

I don't think Andy wants cpdn.org to redirect to climateprediction.net in boinc manager. Also, I don't think he wants any computers attaching through https://cpdn.org/ The instructions in the upper left of the main boinc cpdn at https://cpdn.org/ site now state to attach any computers to https://climateprediction.net/ which is the URL it has always been. This is now there whether already logged in or not. Before it was only there when not logged in. The redirection in boinc manager to the dev site when trying to attach to https://cpdn.org/ is odd to say the least. You are the first to complain about it at least, but then previous to the new cpdn boinc site, it was quite clear on the main page what URL to use to attach a computer to climateprediction.net. I'll e-mail Andy to see if he can get rid of that annoyance of the redirect to dev. Whenever I join a boinc project, I either use the default that boinc manager provides, or type in the URL that is spelled out on the project's main front page of its website somewhere. You just came into the site and found that the needed URL to attach to was not specified on the main page when already logged in. Thanks for pointing it out. |

I can't get it to go to the dev site with anything that I've tried. And using "https://cpdn.org" gives the following: Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead followed by: Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for cpdn.org. The certificate is only valid for www.cpdn.org. in an outline box. |

I can't get it to go to the dev site with anything that I've tried. Hmm. My Firefox doesn't seem to care, but Chrome and Edge tell me my Bitdefender doesn't like the certificate. Weird. |

Slight niggle here. Both https://www.cpdn.org and https://cpdn.org attach the BOINC client to the dev project. I do not see anything under the GDPR section saying to attach to https://www.climateprediction.net, instead of using the URL of the page where administer your account preferences (https://www.cpdn.org). The image below is what I see. Reno, NV |
