But even after upgrading to the latest release things are more or less the same.

At least I get the feedback that the project requested delay, which I didn't get before.

Project pages however show that almost 2500 tasks are ready to be sent.

What hardware?

What operating system?

Please list the first 50 or so lines of the event log after a reboot.

BTW, if you are only connected to CPDN then be aware that there are no windows tasks and that tasks for Linux have also run out recently, the 2500 are new and it might take your machine a couple of days to spark into life.

If it’s any consolation, my pc was out of CPDN work and tried to download some half an hour ago - it also pulled 0 tasks.

So that is why you didn't get any. You will likely have to wait for the next HADAM4 batch now.

The other thing I’d add is that I’d change the 15% in :-

suspend work if non-BOINC CPU load exceeds 15%

to something more like 75% as your processing will be cutting in and out like a fiddler’s elbow as Windows does it’s “background” maintenance.

I am not arguing with this, but was it justified? Since I do not know the numbers, I will make them up.

Say 60% of the boinc clients run Windows, 35% run Linux, and 5% run on MACs.
then if 35 Linux users fail and 5 MAC users fail, they have an equal failure rate and it would be unfair to refuse work units to the Linux community. If 100% of the Linux machines or 100% of the Intel machines failed, then cuting those machines off would clearly be the thing to do.

Does anyone have the correct numbers to replace those I made up? I ask because I have had all mine (on Linux with an Intel Xeon processor) fail except one. Since that one succeeded, and the two other machines that tried it first failed (and they ran on Macs), I infer that it may not be the fault of the operating system or the processor type. One of the two that failed the one that worked for me even produced three trickles.

I have also posted in new work discussion in number crunching,

70% failure rate,20% success and the rest in progress Linux.

75%success, 20% failure and the rest in progress on Macs.

So I think it is justified though given that a lot of the failures on Linux are missing libraries they are really user problems rather than Linux ones a concerted effort to get rid of the computers with missing libraries would be a better approach.

We now have passed one month since the last post, and apparently there is still no work for Windows PC's.

Looks like the program is dead, at least for the majority of users out there.

That's a pity, as I was running climateprediction calculations for around 2 decadeds (!) now.
Boinc and climateprediction is installed on all of our office PC's, and we are #2 in Norway, and #139 worldwide.

You could try the VirtualBox solution in this thread, and run the Mac models while they last:

If you are familiar with setting up VMs, installing macOS Mojave from the link that Les posted is straightforward. The only issue I've found is that the instructions do not mention screen resolution, which defaults to 1024x768. The VB management command for e.g 1920x1080 is:
VBoxManage setextradata “macname” VBoxInternal2/EfiGraphicsResolution 1920x1080

The only current option for Windoze users is to run a Virtual Machine. This Windoze PC runs VirtualBox with two VMs - Linux (ubuntu) and Mac (Mohave).
