I understand that the report deadline for CPDN work units are almost a year from when you download them... but if no trickle is recieved from a particular work unit for a certain amount of time, is it ever recycled and sent out to another client? The reason I ask is that the website here reports that my computer here is working on 3 work units. It is in fact only working on one work unit. I lost the other two in various unfortunate ways (CPU instability and an ensuing motherboard burnout). One of the work units didn't even trickle once and evidently BOINC was never able to call back and report an error so the project still thinks I'm working on it. Soo... to sum up: Will these work units be recycled? and if so, will it wait until the report deadline or will it realize it is lost before then and recycle it at that time?
---------------------------- A member of The Knights Who Say Ni! Yet another stats page: http://boinc-kwsn.no-ip.info |

There is a mechanism for detecting workunits that aren't trickling, but only the project team would be able to enlighten you on what it is. BTW, it appears that some workunits are currently being sent out multiple times for validation purposes (as Carl has said would happen). There's an example here. Join us here |
