I have an upload which immediately halts:
Fri Feb 10 07:40:33 2012 | climateprediction.net | Started upload of hadam3p_eu_9bqy_1961_1_007735282_1_12.zip
Fri Feb 10 07:40:34 2012 | climateprediction.net | Temporarily failed upload of hadam3p_eu_9bqy_1961_1_007735282_1_12.zip: HTTP error
Fri Feb 10 07:40:34 2012 | climateprediction.net | Backing off 8 hr 57 min 16 sec on upload of hadam3p_eu_9bqy_1961_1_007735282_1_12.zip

Can this be a timeout? While this result has been mouldering at least one other completed result has uploaded successfully.

Post:
Four different hadcm3n_um_6.07_i686-apple-darwin jobs are running simultaneously. Every 30-40 seconds they each pause for 5-10 seconds, but not necessarily at the same moment. Activity Monitor shows no disk or network activity associated with these pauses. I've tried all the BOINC preferences on resource allocation and runtimes with no effect. What's going on?

The activity monitor shows that the second (aborted) job is still in memory but using no CPU time. It\'s no longer visible from inside BOINC and so no obvious way to remove it from within BOINC. Is it safe to select and kill it using the activity monitor?

Yea, verily; it was safe. The original job still runs.

Ah! I used the \"Projects\" suspend, not the menu. Perhaps it is still necessary to use the menu suspend. Anyway, I exitted BOINC and re-started it; then the GUI could open but the project \"Resume\" button did not take affect. Finally I tried the menu buttons. The second job has been aborted and the original job is running again.

Uhh, the activity monitor shows that the second (aborted) job is still in memory but using no CPU time. It\'s no longer visible from inside BOINC and so no obvious way to remove it from within BOINC. Is it safe to select and kill it using the activity monitor?

I suspended the project and installed the update. After reboot, BOINC starts, and the activity monitor shows that sulphur is running, but BOINC cannot open any GUI windows. (Also posted to the BOINC manager message board at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_forum.php?id=1] .)

I\'m using the BOINC GUI under OSX 10.3.9. If I ever need to reboot or shut down the computer, what is the graceful way to close the project and BOINC so that no work is lost? (Apologies if this is discussed explicitly somewhere; I have looked and not found it.)

If one has already installed BOINC before finding this note, must one un-install the package, then load the library, then re-install?

Opening the library installer causes Safari to crash. But I\'ve now installed it, and we\'ll see whether jobs can now run.

The job is now running. It was not necessary to remove and re-install BOINC.
