Team credits
(Message 46220)
Posted 14 May 2013 by scottishwebcamslive.com Post: hi Les, yeah i think there was always a problem with the models never quite giving the same credit as each other, people used to head straight for the ones giving out most credit but this does seem to be a pretty constant thing across the few model types we've had so not like the odd credit levels between model types in past years the oddness is that you do get the credits due for work done you can even see the credits given daily on the BAM stats page but only the RAC for those daily credits over a month are way out just seems somewhere the art of creating an average from a set of numbers has been lost somehow lol just a quirk I suppose and everybody seems to get the same problem so nobody gaining any advantage or anything just OCD types like me liking the numbers to make sense lol best regards Ian |

Posted 14 May 2013 by scottishwebcamslive.com Post: hi, there's an even weirder anomaly about the stats on this project which I've mentioned before but nobody picked up on that is the RAC score your given is completely out of whack with the daily credits you produce in my case a daily credit rate of around 10,000 for more than a month and yet my RAC is below half that its not me everybody gets the same treatment if you look up the stats on the BAM stats site they really don't add up unless i'm missing something and the RAC figures are worked out in some really weird way now that i'm unaware of best regards Ian |

Posted 19 Apr 2013 by scottishwebcamslive.com Post: Hi Ian, I know what you mean about the GPU projects stealing cpu cores my second 920 box only crunches 7 models as the gpu steals a complete thread for itself my first box i don't use any gpu work on so it uses the full 8 cores when the FORTRAN errors don't decrease that figure good to hear your updating its always good to get your hands on shiny new equipment i haven't done so for a while now ( maybe treat myself at some point ) think your twin i5's will out crunch my twin 920's by quite some margin so the race to be top team cruncher might be a lot closer than you think lol I do like to come in here and make sure Margaret doesn't feel shes holding the teams thread all on her own but your correct in saying now the teams forum is fixed we may as well use it :) best regards Ian |

Posted 18 Apr 2013 by scottishwebcamslive.com Post: hi, Ian thanks very much for the heads up seemingly the people at server HQ had to give mine a bit of a kick for some reason but all is well now fingers crossed :) as far as the stats Ian yours are way more accurate than the ones on the CPDN site which are pretty much a mess and make no sense at all I crunch alot more daily than you and yet you have the higher RAC by some margin plus if you look at the BAM statistics monthly report and divide that number by 28 days to get what should be your average everybody on the project is only getting half the RAC they should be maybe the RAC is now calculated over 2 or 3 months now instead of 1 as it used to be OOPs said I was off my soap box earlier best regards Ian |

Posted 18 Apr 2013 by scottishwebcamslive.com Post: hi the new member was Hexen from Thailand unfortunately although i wrote to him/her on the same day they joined they never downloaded work or got back to me :( as far as the project is concerned i'm having all sorts of problems with this FORTRAN error that errors out a huge amount of the models i download for some reason I've had cases where because 4 or 5 models error out due to FORTRAN errors only 3 or 4 out of the 8 models i could run on one machine actually crunch while waiting days for the next models to show up for download so that i can crunch on the full 8 until some of those error out :( its quite annoying to have errors through no fault of your own but even more so then have to wait days to replace the models which have crashed don't understand why if it is known that there is a FORTRAN error with a specific type of model why they are being released to us in the first place anyway i'll get off my soap box now lol best regards Ian OH by the way our team is ranked 10th in RAC today highest rank in cpdn ever I think ? I do remember the good old days on the BBC project where we were ranked 3rd :) |

Posted 21 Jan 2011 by scottishwebcamslive.com Post: hello, I realize that the trickles and zip files are differant i.e. being 5.24 meg in size for instance i now have 76 zip files equaling nearly 400 meg of zip files stored up so far and increasing steadily something has to be done to allow these zip files to be uploaded as i dont plan on having an upload on my broadband connection of a gig or something rediculous in one go ! best regards Ian |

Posted 1 Aug 2010 by scottishwebcamslive.com Post: hi Margret Nice to see you back here and that your still thinking of crunching again :) about the credit thing though several people have had all sorts of problems with credits even Iansm from our own team had problems as collecting past credit info from the cpdn project seems to be impossible after a certain amount of time ( a year we think ) as the backed up stats take up disk space on the cpdn server so i think they must flush them on some sort of rotational basis if you look at our own team stats you will see several new members whos credits couldnt be located to be alocated to the team stats page :( Iansm knows way more about all this stuff i'm just giving a laymans breakdown but i hope this helps you fell your not alone in weird stats ville best regards Ian |
