11) Message boards : Number crunching : Project of the Month for March and April (Message 36184)
Posted 20 Feb 2009 by Profile old_user19203
Post:
The members of the US Navy Team\'s forum have voted to select the project \"Climate prediction\" as the POTM (Project of the Month) for the month for March. This will run for two (2) months due to some large work units. If you desire not to work this project the US Navy teams need some help in the following projects: [b](1) uFluid, (2) QMC, (3) Rectilinear Crossing Grid. Any help given in these projects will help us greatly in surpassing the U.S.Air Force team in both the RAC and total cobblestones. To-date every POTM selected has resulted in the US Navy team leading the Air Force by a great amount.

Navy Team\'s Forum Come on by, sign-up and vote for the next POTM.

Thank you,

Yank

The US Navy team has a \'Project of the Month\". We ask all members of any Navy team in the BOINC system to crunch work units for the selected project. The project selected for December is Cosmology at home.

If you can spare some of your computer power for the Cosmology at home please sign up with the Cosmology project and then sign on to the US Navy Cosmology team. Every little bit can help us keep ahead of the U.S.Air Force team.

The Navy Team\'s Forum is at:Navy Team\'s Forum. How about joining the Navy Team\'s Forum and \'Vote for the next Project of the Month\'.

Thank you,

Yank

You can download the installation for any version of BOINC from 4.05 upwards from the BOINC download archive.

Just pick the one that was on your system, install it, uninstall it and install the latest version.

Running Windows XP at home,2.4 cpu,256 memory. I was running Boinc on this computer for some time with other programs such as seti, clim. prediction, esintein and now LHC. After a slight mishap, deleting my Boinc program, I am unable to download it again. Have tried four times, two different versions of Boinc, and I am informed that I still have a version of Boinc installed and will not be able to complete the download. I have tried everything I know, add/remove program, deleted all files and folders with the name of boinc in it, deleted all protected files and folders with the name Boinc in it etc. WHAT is the next step I can try.

18) Questions and Answers : Windows : What caused computer freeze? (Message 5755)

Windows XP

Computer running slow and I exit CP program. My Windows Task Manager still showed CP running and using from 2 to 20% of computer power and at the same time no work was being shown as being performed by CP. Rebooted and that took care of the problem.

However, as soon as the computer rebooted the CP program attempted to dial out even thought I set it up to only dial out every 10 days. That setting hasn\'t taken even though I set it up about 5 days ago.

Soon I know I will have all the problems taken care of with all your expert advice.

Thanks

23) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC CP and BOINC SETI (Message 5433)
Posted 16 Oct 2004 by Profile old_user19203
Post:
&gt; I assume that you have one BOINC program which is switching between CP and
&gt; SETI. All you need to do is open the BOINC window and select the projects tab,
&gt; then right click on the project you want to drop for now. Then select
&gt; <i>Detach...</i>.
&gt;
&gt; To reattach later go to <i>settings</i>.
&gt;

Thanks, just follwed your instructions and that took care of it.

&gt; I suspect that it may a communication problem. Have a look at the advice on
&gt; firewalls and proxies <a> href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/quick_faq.php#d"&gt;here</a>.
&gt; Then by all means ask again for advice.
&gt;
Seemingly my communicate system is working OK. Some of the messages that came up are 1. Master file fetch failed...2. could read master page...error 1133. can't resolve host name..
However every one of these messages has been seen on my other computers at one time and they are still working. At present this computer will be deferring comunciations for 1 week or according to the message and no work will be done.
Any recommendations?
The other computer not working I will have to wait about 16 hours before communicate takes place. Any ideas?
I have four computers other computers that are working.

One of my computers downloaded some work well over a week ago and I can\'t seem to get it to work. Application message states \" ready to run.... \" message board keeps deferring communication for various amounts ot time. So for over a week now no work has been done on this computer. What can I do? Do I have to delete the entire Boinc program and start all over again on this computer?
