Unable to get the Project to send me work.
(Message 35832)
Posted 5 Jan 2009 by Jack Shaftoe Post: This host was formerly attached using 5.x BOINC, but I recently upgraded to 6.4.5 after putting a GTX 260 into it. In the process, I also moved my BOINC data folder to another drive since I was running low on space. Unfortunately, when I copied my projects over, 6.4.5 did not recognize the old work so I lost the 4 CPDN models it was working on. Since doing this, it (CPDN) has only allowed me to download 1 work unit. Am I correct in assuming this is due to the other 4 models being left in limbo? How can I get it to download 3 more? Thanks for any advice. |

Posted 5 Jan 2009 by Jack Shaftoe Post: So far as I can tell there is no way to contact anyone, anywhere, via email if I have a problem. ( wotht he experitment and model) but I am forced to post and hope a person with authority notices it. The contact support is a webring. impossoble to contact and impossible to leave. New to the internet? Tons of websites do this and it works fine. When I post a question, people here reply very quickly - not only mods, but also other people crunching the experiment. |

Posted 26 May 2007 by Jack Shaftoe Post: So: I sent pmondo a link to this thread, hopefully he\'ll answer any questions you have to prove he is the founder. As to why he\'s not the one posting this, I guess I\'m just slightly more proactive and spend more time hanging out on this forum. Honestly, I could care less about who the founder is. I just would like someone to please fix the URL to our team website (see my original post) -- and this seems to be the only way to get it done. We\'ve been working on this for 7 months now... |

Posted 25 May 2007 by Jack Shaftoe Post: Did the founder recieve an email? Grrrrr.... It\'s not my email challenge. The person who initiated the transfer/challenge (pmondo) *is* the original team founder, but he has long since changed email addresses so he has no way of getting in until his attempt to challenge himself is complete. He is trying to transfer it to his new address. Why 2 months? That seems a little ridiculous to me. Old owner and new owner are the same person, can\'t someone just go in and click \"approve\" for us? |

Posted 18 Apr 2007 by Jack Shaftoe Post: What I find a little odd is the change in the speed of the model recently, from 1.425s/ts to 1.53 at the most recent trickle, which is often a sign of PC instability (or, alternatively, that the model is running on a different PC to the one it started on). Yes, I had to move the model from one PC to another when I lost a cruncher. That is why you see the change. Thanks Mike, I will try the torture test. -Sangamon |

(Message 27898)
Posted 14 Apr 2007 by Jack Shaftoe Post: Hi Sangamon, fancy meeting you here! Hello Mew, thanks for the quick response! Whew, glad to read this. I had about 1500 hours on that model, so I didn\'t like the idea of resetting it.. But, whatever you do, DON\'T PRESS THE RESET BUTTON! This will delete your model(s)! Haha, no worries. I know what that does, which is why I brought it here to ask about it. Thanks folks, -ST |

6 week inactivity = Reassigned WU\'s?
(Message 27409)
Posted 19 Mar 2007 by Jack Shaftoe Post: Thanks for the response Les, And just because a model gets re-issued does not mean that you can\'t continue with it; it just means that the researchers will get a second opinion on that dataset. I see. Just seems like a waste of months of CPU time, so I\'d prefer to avoid the above happening. I\'ll try your workaround though, hopefully that will do the trick. Cheers, |

6 week inactivity = Reassigned WU\'s?
(Message 27401)
Posted 19 Mar 2007 by Jack Shaftoe Post: I searched for this and couldn\'t find a solid answer. Some people speculated that 6 weeks of inactivity (no trickles) would result in the WU being reassigned. Anyone have any evidence of this? I have 4 WU\'s that are 40% complete in queue waiting for another pair in front of them to finish. [long story] |
