Just saw this link on our team page:

\"Request team founder transfer\"

Looks like our founder has initiated that, what is the next step? Thanks!

What I find a little odd is the change in the speed of the model recently, from 1.425s/ts to 1.53 at the most recent trickle, which is often a sign of PC instability (or, alternatively, that the model is running on a different PC to the one it started on).

Yes, I had to move the model from one PC to another when I lost a cruncher. That is why you see the change. Thanks Mike,

I will try the torture test.

As I see it, since the first entry says \"computation for task finished\", it failed due to a model issue and not my computer. Right? This one was about 30% complete according to BOINC when it failed on me overnight.

Thanks,

Hi Sangamon, fancy meeting you here!

No need to worry about that message, it should disappear again in a day or so. It is benign, if annoying.

If it lasts for a few days, you can shut down BOINC and do a system reboot. That usually gets everything resynched again.

Hello Mew, thanks for the quick response! Whew, glad to read this. I had about 1500 hours on that model, so I didn\'t like the idea of resetting it..

But, whatever you do, DON\'T PRESS THE RESET BUTTON! This will delete your model(s)!

Haha, no worries. I know what that does, which is why I brought it here to ask about it.

Thanks folks,

Just following up to say that this worked perfectly. Opened one of my backups, edited the client_state.xml file, copied the <report_deadline> values and pasted them into the current running client_state.xml file.

Thanks for the response Les,

And just because a model gets re-issued does not mean that you can\'t continue with it; it just means that the researchers will get a second opinion on that dataset.

I see. Just seems like a waste of months of CPU time, so I\'d prefer to avoid the above happening. I\'ll try your workaround though, hopefully that will do the trick.

Cheers,

I searched for this and couldn\'t find a solid answer. Some people speculated that 6 weeks of inactivity (no trickles) would result in the WU being reassigned.

Anyone have any evidence of this? I have 4 WU\'s that are 40% complete in queue waiting for another pair in front of them to finish. [long story]

As long as you\'re only running one project, then you can simply ignore this (it\'s harmless). However if you\'re running multiple projects, it will interfere with scheduling and work fetch. In that case, you can (with care) edit the various XML files to reset the dates - I don\'t have a link to the instructions, but they\'ll be on this forum somewhere.

Hi Mike, thank you for the response. I searched for \"1901\" and \"XML\" - neither seemed to return instructions for hard setting the deadline - although XML returned lots of other interesting info.

I do run other projects, so if anyone else reads this and can let me know which XML files I need to play with, please let me know. Thanks.

Sorry for the trouble,

My computer was having trouble with its integrated network card, so I replaced the motherboard. Boinc has rescheduled the deadline for my climateprediction.net task from 12/13/2007 3:45:52 PM to 12/13/1901 3:45:52 PM. Will this correct itself on the next trickle-up? Or is this work-unit now expired and worthless?

Do you still get credits from it? This just happened to me too. I was having disk space problems, so I tried to move my BOINC install from one partition to another, and it now shows 1901 as well. Rats. If anyone knows of a way to fix this, I would sure appreciate it.

Different error:

Model crashed: umshell1.f: U_MODEL: Illegal combination of submodels

Haven\'t seen that one before but wonder whether the Run was restarted from a backup taken while the Model was running? Or from a backup taken of only the CPDN sub-folder?

Nope, never restored one yet. Should I restore this one?

chances are it resulted from an unstable parameter mix. (A guess
on my part, but there have been too many recently not to suspect parameters. No biggie, though, the scientists also have to see what *doesn\'t*
work. [I know, small consolation.])

And another this morning. 2 in 2 days. :( Yuck!

Simply move the entire boinc folder, then reinstall boinc into the same folder. This sets the proper Registry values and does nothing to harm your work in progress.

Cool, I didn\'t think it would be that simple. Thanks for the response AstroWX!

I\'m getting a new system soon, but if possible I\'d prefer to carry over the WU my old PC is in chewing on. Would a simple folder copy of Boinc files work, or will the naturally changeing machine ID cause problems?

Not the end of the world if it doesn\'t work, but since the WU\'s do take quite a bit of time it would be nice to be able to finish the one I\'ve already started.

I am curious about moving a current WU from 1 PC to another. I was suprised not to see this in the FAQ\'s or as a sticky.

Anyone? Thanks,

Not sure if this is possible - but I hesitate to attach my quad\'s since it will tie them up for a few months. If CPDN was able to make the app multithreaded, I\'d love to download one WU and have it done in 25% of the time.

Is that something BOINC has to add support for first or something climateprediction could do?
