31) Questions and Answers : Windows : New Motherboard Changes Deadline (Message 27392)

Post:

As long as you\'re only running one project, then you can simply ignore this (it\'s harmless). However if you\'re running multiple projects, it will interfere with scheduling and work fetch. In that case, you can (with care) edit the various XML files to reset the dates - I don\'t have a link to the instructions, but they\'ll be on this forum somewhere.

Hi Mike, thank you for the response. I searched for \"1901\" and \"XML\" - neither seemed to return instructions for hard setting the deadline - although XML returned lots of other interesting info.

I do run other projects, so if anyone else reads this and can let me know which XML files I need to play with, please let me know. Thanks.

Sorry for the trouble,

My computer was having trouble with its integrated network card, so I replaced the motherboard. Boinc has rescheduled the deadline for my climateprediction.net task from 12/13/2007 3:45:52 PM to 12/13/1901 3:45:52 PM. Will this correct itself on the next trickle-up? Or is this work-unit now expired and worthless?

Do you still get credits from it? This just happened to me too. I was having disk space problems, so I tried to move my BOINC install from one partition to another, and it now shows 1901 as well. Rats. If anyone knows of a way to fix this, I would sure appreciate it.

Different error:

Model crashed: umshell1.f: U_MODEL: Illegal combination of submodels

Haven\'t seen that one before but wonder whether the Run was restarted from a backup taken while the Model was running? Or from a backup taken of only the CPDN sub-folder?

Nope, never restored one yet. Should I restore this one?

chances are it resulted from an unstable parameter mix. (A guess
on my part, but there have been too many recently not to suspect parameters. No biggie, though, the scientists also have to see what *doesn\'t*
work. [I know, small consolation.])

And another this morning. 2 in 2 days. :( Yuck!

Rats, just had the same problem. Fortunately it happened on a relatively newer model. Only 60 hours into it.
Spotted this thread on the forum, and realize now the importance of backing up my models (I have a few approaching 80% complete).

Here is the result

36) Questions and Answers : Windows : New PC: Is it possible to keep and continue current WU? (Message 25847)

Simply move the entire boinc folder, then reinstall boinc into the same folder. This sets the proper Registry values and does nothing to harm your work in progress.

Cool, I didn\'t think it would be that simple. Thanks for the response AstroWX!

I\'m getting a new system soon, but if possible I\'d prefer to carry over the WU my old PC is in chewing on. Would a simple folder copy of Boinc files work, or will the naturally changeing machine ID cause problems?

Not the end of the world if it doesn\'t work, but since the WU\'s do take quite a bit of time it would be nice to be able to finish the one I\'ve already started.

I am curious about moving a current WU from 1 PC to another. I was suprised not to see this in the FAQ\'s or as a sticky.

Anyone? Thanks,

Bumping this, as the founder has been unsuccessful in getting that fixed or logging in. Is there any way someone could change the founder?

Thanks for any help.

As far as I know it\'s only the founder who can do that... :-(

Both. But it\'s unlikely to happen for several reasons.

That\'s too bad. Hope it happens sooner than you anticipate. Thanks for the response.

Not sure if this is possible - but I hesitate to attach my quad\'s since it will tie them up for a few months. If CPDN was able to make the app multithreaded, I\'d love to download one WU and have it done in 25% of the time.

Is that something BOINC has to add support for first or something climateprediction could do?

Hi folks,

We recently realized that our team has a bad URL for our team webpage, and the founder of our team doesn\'t know what his login is, nor what email address he used to create our team so he can\'t login and fix it. :) It\'s been awhile since he logged in here I guess.

Can someone help us fix this?

Here\'s the correct link.

Thanks,

-S
