1) Questions and Answers : Windows : No tasks and nothing uploading (Message 42292)

Thanks for this
- though in a kind of anthropomorphic kind of way the hypochondria appeals!

I do wonder whether it would be a good idea to keep people involved so they dont stray to other projects and not come back - maybe not feasible.

Presumably my very sensitive computer will keep on politely requesting work until it arrives!

Regards

Hi
all my setting are correct (allow new tasks etc) but every climate prediction task has disappeared and nothing new arrives. I have tried to "reset project" to no avail.
Why is my computer feeling so rejected?!
Ideas and help much appreciated

Thanks for this - compared to when I ran the BBC models (a while ago) this is like greased lightning. Already past the battle of waterloo and heading for the crimea (hopefully not the charge of the light brigade)

I am currently running four programmes on a core quad processor on a standard dell desktop - and all seems pretty fast and easy. Having monitored the CPU use the CPU is pretty much 100% used if all four programmes are in use. Is this wise or should I be thinking of rationing a little to reduce heat output? - I suppose otherwise stated - are processors in reality designed for full time use of all four cores?

Probably a silly question but I am not hugely knowledgeable about this area

I note my programmes hung up for a couple of days for no obvious reason - this seems to be cured by suspending and then un-suspending. It now seems happy as Larry - any ideas what is happening?
6) Message boards : Cafe CPDN : can a task really take this long? (Message 25650)

I have just started on CPDN and as far as I can see there are over 7000 hours to complete. As the experiment appears to have a report deadline next november surely my experiment is doomed not to finish?

Bit depressing that !

Hope I have misunderstood the information.
