boinc runs and the just stops
(Message 7350)
Posted 17 Jan 2005 by Stefan Schilling Post: Hello! I´m currently trying to run the boinc project Vers. 4.13. This is working until a certain point (this happened to me after step 33, 110, 247), it just stops. I can still close the application by pressing CRTL-C, and I can restart it, of course. What I don´t understand is, why it just stops. Here are some hard data: musik@debian:~ > ps aux | grep _i686 musik 16688 0.0 0.9 2548 1424 tty1 S+ 23:21 0:00 ./boinc_4.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu musik 16689 0.0 0.5 2048 904 tty1 SN+ 23:21 0:00 hadsm3_4.04_i686-pc-linux-gnu 2tsm_100153258 musik 16753 0.0 0.4 1716 720 pts/0 R+ 23:57 0:00 grep _i686 musik@debian:~ > pstree | grep login |-login---bash---boinc_4.13_i686---hadsm3_4.04_i68---hadsm3um_4.04_i musik@debian:~ > top | grep boinc musik@debian:~ > top | grep hadsm3 musik@debian:~ > When I restart it now, it will re-run, but I´m sure, it will stop at some point, again. I´ve read post http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=1009 but that didn´t help. No action has been started during this run, except a "top" surveillance process. If you need any further information, please write. Bye! Stefan, Germany |

Posted 17 Jan 2005 by Stefan Schilling Post: Hello! I finally managed to start up the boinc software. Poorly, it doesnt start the way I need it -in the backgound. The following is working: musik@debian:~ > cd boinc musik@debian:~/boinc > ./boinc_4.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu 2005-01-17 15:24:40 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.13 for i686-pc-linux-gnu 2005-01-17 15:24:40 [climateprediction.net] Project prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2005-01-17 15:24:40 [climateprediction.net] Host ID is 86720 2005-01-17 15:24:40 [---] General prefs: from climateprediction.net (last modified 2004-10-28 12:34:57) 2005-01-17 15:24:40 [---] General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2005-01-17 15:24:40 [climateprediction.net] Resuming computation for result 2tsm_100153258_1 using hadsm3 version 4.04 Starting model in /exports/mp3/boinc/projects/climateprediction.net... I tried to use this script: http://noether.vassar.edu/~myers/help/boinc/init.d-boinc but, that doesnt help. I receive a "Done", when starting this up, but I'm not completely sure about it, as the command : PID=`pidof $BOINCEXE` if [ "$PID" != "" ]; then echo_success else echo_failure fi doesnt work. Anyway: top doesn't show me the process, so I believe, it hasn't been started (properly). Thanks for advice! cu, Stefan By the way: I'm running a SuSE Linux 7.2 box, with almost up-to-date software. Kernel is 2.4.10. I CAN connect to almost all pages, except for the cpdn / boinc pages. The data have been download onto a university's computer and the transfered to my malade box. PS2: please dont ask me about the box's name, it IS a SuSE box... |
