I had a message from Bullguard internet security that it had blocked programs trying to access the internet and these were climate predictions files.
I clicked on false positive but all three tasks come up Error in computing

I ran a project continuously from 13th March to 26th march and it uploaded and showed successfully in my event log but is showing as pending on the internet.
I have received 2 more today. Is it worth continuing with these 2 as I seem to have lost 19,000 points as the first must have disappeared and the same may happen with these 2 which are scheduled for 3 days each
5) Message boards : Number crunching : Loss of Project Total Credits (Message 37758)
Posted 14 Aug 2009 by Paul
Post:
Has anyone whose credit total has dropped noticed any change in the list of computers attached to the project? I\'m not sure yet if that\'s got anything to do with these problems but it\'s something I\'ll take a look at.

my climate change has this

GenuineIntel
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6]

my milky way shows this

GenuineIntel
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6]
(2 processors)

so the only difference between the 2 is the last part ie (2 processors)

I lost 3490 credits yesterday and gained 659 credits today

the only thing I can think of is somehow when I did the live archive dump the other day, a few old results got lost, causing some of these 1-2% losses. but I needed to bump up the cpdn credits since as Thyme Lawn pointed out we\'re actually \"under-crediting\" when compared to other boinc projects. So a 5% boost on that seemed about right. So you may have noticed a drop of 1-2% (when the database archive happened) followed by a 5% increase. CPDN credits have never been an exact science (sort of like climate modelling ;-)....

Mine has dropped from 17,329 to 13,839 and this looks like just over a 20% drop and no increase yet
I Managed to get Boinc to 200,000 yesterday and was chuffed only to see it down to 199,000 now
7) Message boards : Number crunching : problem uploading (Message 37208)

Post:
Hi
with the message that if Boinc tries to upload files it aborts the transfer after 14 days if unsuccesful.
do we lose all the credits?

I have used 95 hours to do this so do you lose everything.
if so it is a lot of wasted computer time which could have been better used with other projects. I have 2 others just started with 122 hours to complete so should I start these?

Hi
On previous ones the graphics showed the date and time and number of steps etc
the latest ones shows the spinning earth and just the key and then the progress bar but nothing else
it is Hadam3p version 6.06

9) Questions and Answers : Windows : Computation error (Message 36581)

Post:

Hi
many thanks

I have a few questions
I have found the BOINC folder but this just seems to have the main BOINC files and nothing dated earlier than 2 weeks ago
I have done a search for a file name with Climate in it and it did not find anything. I did a search on hadam and it found 3 files in C:windows:prefetch
so I am not sure what to backup as doing windows prefetch seems risky.
thanks for any advice
regards Paul

quote]Hi Paul, welcome to CPDN.

Although HadSM3H models are sometimes prone to crashes, there is nothing obvious with your crash. Others have got further.

I would recommend that you read the \"Information of running the climate models\" here. The \"README - Crashes and other problems\" has a wealth of guidance README here on avoiding crashes. CPDN programs/models do stress the hardware so much more than the other programs you are running, so I would suggest that you run a stability test using PRIME95 (description and link in the hardware section of the readme) for 24 hours. This will check for problems that could be instability in your setup.

I see you have downloaded a new model to run. Welcome again and good luck.

Hi
after running a module for 198 hours and over 51% completed I got a computation error. I have uploaded it but was there anything else I could have done and is it worth getting a new one to do
thanks Paul
