Thanks, that makes sense. It didn't seem like I had an increase in total credits. Since I burn them onto CD's once they're done and delete them, I wouldn't know what was moved where. So if you ever need to look at any of my models, the woman who never throws anything away is saving them for you.

I\'ve seen the theads about people losing credits, but I may have been credited with work I haven\'t done. Host 178632 has two results added, one in progress, from Oct 2004 but this computer wasn\'t created until June 2005.

You are only showing phase 3 trickles, so your first model seems to be going still. Maybe that is the "other instance" of BOINC. I don't think your work unit is lost, but I don't understand why it doesn't show in your boinc manager. This problem sounds familiar and when it happened to me, I seem to recall I had a hard time killing all the Boinc processes in the task manager. It was like they wouldn't die and I just did a reboot. I think that fixed it and I don't think I hurt any work units. This was a while back, before 4.19.

You don't have to log into Boinc WIKI, it is just an encyclopedia. Your windows socket interface issue is discussed there.

http://boinc-doc.net/boinc-wiki/index.php?title=Failed_to_clean_up_Windows_socket_interface

You don't give stats sites your account key, there is an account id you find in your profile under "other". You give them that number if you want to make one of those signature files that show your credits.

Hope that helps.

One of my computers has a work unit in the list on the website that is not actually on my computer.

Host 160840 shows four results, one done, three new, one actually in progress.

0ub5_100059698 is not anywhere to be found in my CPDN folder. All the others are there.

This host is a Linux machine and it downloads a work unit at the end of phase one, and this time appeared to download two. This happened June 25th.

> This is not a problem. You have received the full 6805 credits and the model
> will be available to the scientists regardless of it still saying 'In
> progress'
>
> In support of this see:
> Carl said
> credits & data received really have nothing to do with the outcome rating,
> as I found long ago that valid results can come in even though boinc thinks
> "client error."
>
Thanks for your reply, Crandles. That puts my mind at ease.

which appears to be on host 167123 with a client error but not in my results list. It had five trickles and 472.59 credits. I aborted it and it downloaded a new model which does show up in the results for this computer.

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I couldn't find it, so...

It still shows as "in progress" in my results. It is model 2ddb_300131760 and only shows 70 trickles. It seems to be missing trickles from around May 8 or 9.

I am using BOINC 4.25 on Windows XP Home, SP1.

Boinc Manager said it was finished- these are all the messages I found about uploads.

Would that be HowManyAngelsCanDanceOnTheHeadofaPin@Home? HMACDOTHOAP@Home? They should probably shorten it to HMA@Home. I look forward to the opening of this project, soon to be followed by projects that will delve into "how much wood can a woodchuck chuck" and "how many peppers did Peter Piper pick". And how about all of those troublesome story problems that involve trains leaving at different times and speeds? If we can put rovers on Mars, we should be able to answer these questions once and for all.

24) Message boards : Number crunching : AT 94% complete, BOINC (Message 4999)
Posted 3 Oct 2004 by old_user3335
Post:
Being the impatient sort, I adjusted the resource sharing so CPDN was 98% and LHC and SETI were the other two percent. This allowed me to get the model finished yesterday on the Pentium M laptop. To my horror, it had the unintended side effect of causing another CPDN download on the hyperthreaded P4 machine. I didn't expect that, since that work unit had 77 hours to go. That machine can run two processes and I said I wanted CPDN 98% of the time, so obviously both processors should run it 98% of the time, I guess. I just hope going back to equal shares means I won't get another one when that work unit finishes.

So I got one model done in just over a month (with the "cheating" right at the end). Too bad they won't put that Pentium M chip in a desktop. It's a crunching champion.

I hit 94 percent today but no new model yet. I have 26 hours left on the work unit. I guess since I am set to keeping .1 to 1 day's cache, then when it gets to 24 hours left it might download a new work unit. I am doing LHC and SETI also, with equal sharing. So it will be more than three days before this work unit finishes. I am kind of excited to be finishing a CPDN model.

> Hi, OK, it's no problem, it was just an "optional edit" to allow a file to get
> uploaded at the end.
>
>

So we have plenty of time to do this edit? As long as it gets done before the work unit ends, so that the file can be uploaded at that time? The work units don't speed up or anything once they reach phase three, do they?

Pam
