Have a look at your home page. Does it still show credits? And the cpid being used?
[/quote]
Yes, the page has always shown the right data. Can't show the link to the "..bbc.cpdn.org/home.php" of course but it's all in order.

The CPID shown is the same as 2 other projects - CPDN (part 1) and SAP - but only those two are linked together.
The original BBC id is still recorded in BOINCstats despite being changed to match the other pair.

Congratulations to Rory who has completed his 11th (and final?) long model and the team\'s 165th.

The team now have only 4 x 160 year models still running.

Whoo hoo, 1M credits :)

Congratulations, Edward. Well done!

Also just noticed that Gilbert has passed 1 million sometime over the past week.
Congratulations also to Gilbert for reaching that milestone.

The team now has 11 CPDN millionaires.

After failing to deliver one (2 weeks ago) which carried on to completion after restore, now have another iceworld.
This one is the genuine article (I think!) at http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=10317957

The .CPDN file is on its way. Note that the file size dropped from 96k (usual range 95 - 100k) to one at 69k then
immediately 7k for a number, 3k for another series, then 2k before I killed it. Is that dwindling file size normal in the aftermath of an iceball?

Enjoy. ;)

I don\'t see an example of what you\'re talking about from any of your active computers. Do you have a link to the WU in question that is hadSM3dhet2?

Also, just my first guess, these models are simply different parameters but the same model type and length of run.

There is a vastly different climate model that programmers are working on now, but no word on when that will be ready for public crunching. I\'m sure there will be news released on this forum when those models are finally available.

Here is the link (sorry, it\'s in my other account) - http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=10449968.

The HadSM3fub slab variant was first released in June 2007.

Noticed a few slab models have been downloaded over the last couple of days with the new identifier \"dhet2\".
So, got one myself to try. One new Perturbed Parameter \"CO2 mass mising (sic) ratio for phase 3\" in place of the usual
bunch listed in the long established \"HadSM3fub\" variants.

Have these dhet2_ slabs now replaced fub_ versions?

Understood more new models were planned for the public project soon. Is this the first of these?

Just curious.

Iain,
Aha, confession time. Found out. It\'s a fair cop.
Checked own records again and found another 8 SM3/SM3MH models that also
failed during a period when that Q6600 was breaking the speed limit.
s/TS rates of around 1.00 or less for those 11 models have now reminded me!
That\'s 7 MH\'s + 4 slabs. Another 4 MH\'s in the iceworld detector slideshow
(on the same 880110 m/c) are km3a, km9s, km39, kk9v. The other one kj30
is from another (stock!) Q6600 (990567) so that has definitely got to be a proper iceball.

Am a good driver now, having throttled back to a sensible SM3 speed this year (1.05 - 1.10).
Last week\'s iceworld was just a small \"blip\" (grin).

Your great iceworld detector reveals all.

Unfortunately, not possible to restore those old models as I only keep
short term backups. Pity, I\'d be happy to dedicate one machine to retry a few.
It would be good practice now to keep iceworlds in a \"BOINCDataIce\" folder to
retry when convenient - and send them to the appeal if get iced up a second time.

So my restored iceworld (task 9964633) from last week eventually completed and duly sent up the final trickle -
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9964633

As expected, since I had already aborted it before attempting the restore, we get the
\"Completed result (model name) refused: result already reported as error\" (in BOINC manager).

Assume that this can be ignored so the full set of results will be available to the scientists.

As you say Iain, this may have been a machine \"blip\". In the past I have tried a few restores but no luck.
Thereafter have always aborted and just take another one - i.e. the usual advice. Now I will always restore
an iceworld (don\'t like abandoning any model!) unless I\'ve been lazy and not backed up for several days.

Looking at my records (from our team stats), have 16 fails from 146 slabs (10%) and 8 from 28 mids (30%).
Presumably the majority, if not all, were iceworlds. Could do better!

Thanks for the explanation.

So the restored model now goes past the point when it turned blue!
Had even aborted it yesterday, but it has trickled up at the next
timestep. Will just keep an eye on it and take more frequent backups
in case it hits another wall further on.

Sorry not to supply another iceworld for your collection!

Hi Iain, assume you are still collecting iceworlds?

Got first one for ages. Spotted it (phase 2, at 62.96%) when doing usual morning check
which is essential now that I\'m running 9 slabs (+ one good ol\' CM3). This one here.
It turned blue early this morning soon after phase 2 timestep 226,842 which is 62.5% progress.

Have restored from backup taken at 8am yesterday but have suspended the quad\'s
other 3 models to help the iceworld get to the point as quickly as possible. Currently at 56%.

Will send you the .cpdn file probably tomorrow (Monday). Just need your email address.

When first checking this, I found it was not related to either number of posts
or period since last post but possibly thread dependent. Very random behaviour.

Then, after 10 minutes and using 3 PCs, it stopped going to any first new post!

Have now deselected the \"Jump to ...\" option and selected \"Newest post first\"
sort option (either in community preferences or at top of any thread).
At least it is now consistent and sometimes I may temporarily switch to
\"Oldest post first\" to read through an entire thread.

Thanks for highlighting this issue, Mo! It was annoying to scroll down the long
\"Scotland team\" thread so am happy with sort by newest first.

Many thanks to Hagar, who pointed out (in the \"Oxford boards\") that our new member is Tonks, who joined the team on 31st August. Welcome, Tonks, thanks for joining, happy crunching and we hope to \"meet\" you soon in one of the forums. ;-)

Many congrats to Iansm, who has just completed another 2 160-year models, his 16th and 17th such!

And to Edward Wright, who recently completed his 50th climate model, counting all the different types.

Well done, both!

No results yet from Tonks who has a powerful AMD running Win 7 x64 (which may be the reason?) as we can see here.
Quite a few other recent joiners also cannot seem to get going. Wish they would come here or another forum for help.
Sent a PM to Tonks on the off-chance that he/she may respond. PM alerts may not be set, of course. Oh, well.

On a positive note, Rory recently completed his 9th 160 year model. So, congratulations to Rory!

Problems with the release of the new batch of HadSM3 models?

Have had 6 failed downloads with checksum errors in 2 machines.

Example:

02/09/2009 07:49:19|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request succeeded: got 1 new tasks

02/09/2009 07:49:22|climateprediction.net|[error] Checksum or signature error for hadsm3fub_jkmz_006392885.zip

Did get 2 successes in one computer (and 4 failures). Now reverted to HadAM3P models just to keep on crunching.

A few random checks revealed that other team members are also affected. Vaguely remember checksum errors a long time ago!

I don\'t think I\'ve ever attempted to explain the missing final trickle. But see the posts dated 18 Aug by Carl and Tolu here.

Okay, thanks again. That explains a lot. This Windows/Intel user never went into the long MAC thread - in my defence!

The following one liner in the MAC thread is good enough for me - what Carl said.

Meantime, will keep a closer eye on how every HadAM3P model finishes (next up tomorrow).

End of thread :-)

Good, that\'s the main thing!

Back there, Keith correctly pointed out that my 4 models all \"completed\" without the final small \"post processing\" trickle
- i.e. 2,079 credits ( 72,000 steps) instead of 2,081.77 (72,096 steps).

There was an explanation in one of the 2 boards a few weeks ago - just can\'t locate the post (probably one of yours, Mo?).

As far as I\'m concerned, and for our team\'s models completed stats), a HadAM3P finishes (with all research data) when it reaches step 72,000 - yes?
Just checked my own records for 104 completed HadAM3P models. Only 12, including (allegedly) the recent 4, did not send the final trickle.

Ian, you said \'Two are finished, two still running.\' Have the remaining two trickled since Sunday 6 pm UK time?

Sorry, Mo! I\'ve been busy elsewhere since my post and did not get back here until now.

The other 2 models that downloaded on 12/8 both finished early today (19th).
All 4 have been reported as successfully completed wiith full credits.
Just no trickle data. In BOINC client, trickles were being sent as normal all along. No strange messages.

Meantime all 4 models have been replaced with another 4 AM3P\'s including a a pair which replaced the 2 that completed early today.
All 4 have trickles correctly recorded.

Sorry again I did not get back sooner to try what you suggested.

Stumbled across this \"hole\". It appears that models (some anyway) downloaded early on the 12th have lost their workunit data?

Link to my affected machine in the \"Tasks for Computer\" page here.

The 4 AM3P models affected downloaded shortly before 1:00 UTC on the 12th. Two are finished, two still running.
Go to each details page - and \"no trickles\". This appears to be the normal page format before the first trickle is received.

Edit: Forgot to add that my 4 affected models had their first 5 trickles (20%) all successfully received - before disappearing, probably after about one day.

Click on the workunit, you get \"can\'t find workunit\" message.

The models are trickling up just fine, so no problem at this end.

Checked all other team members\' records and yes, one other has 6 AM3P with missing trickles all downloaded early on the 12th.

Apologies if this is a known problem but could not find anything about it in this forum.

EDIT: Forgot to add that the 4 models had their first 5 trickles (20%) received before disappearing after about one day.
