Rory (who is a dedicated and patient 160-year model specialist!) completed his 8th one yesterday (29/7). No. 154 for the team.

Team stats will not be refreshed until current work installing new servers and updating credits has been completed.
See this announcement. Therefore Rory's latest model will appear later in our model counting stats.

Cheers, Ian

Another long model was completed on 18th July by Rory (his 7th). Well done!

Team now have completed 153 long CPDN models.

Have also noticed (here) that Scotland have finished over 2000 climate models from the 3 projects (CPDN, SAP and BBC).

Another four long HadCM3 models have been completed since the above batch in June.

A pair from myself on 26th June then two from Hagar on 2nd and 12th July.

Scotland have now passed a total 150 long models - currently at 152.

Despite the popularity of the quick HadAM3P models, a few team members are still
(patiently!) crunching 160-year models - currently 15 from 74 active models of all types.

Thanks, Lockleys - Scotland is indeed a friendly, helpful, fun team as well as being successful ;-)

According to Iansm\'s wonderful team stats, no more 160-year models are due to complete for a couple of months, when 2 of his own are currently predicted to finish. Meantime, however, as can be seen from this page of the team stats, Ian himself has now completed 200 climate models in total, counting all the different types! So well done to him. ;-) I\'ll maybe post some fireworks for him if I can find them - it\'s a while since I did that!

[Edit: here they are!]

Thank you, Margaret.

Feel I cheated a bit completing 12 of the quick wee models over past 3 weeks to reach that number.
Iain Inglis will also hit that mark in a few days time. Must agree with Lockleys about team spirit!

Yes, the increase must be related to the new models.

This morning my total is now exceeded 8k and the quickest
machine over 4k - the 38th top computer!

Will check out other team members who have also run HadAM3P models.

Post:
Odd.

Over last week, my RAC has increased dramatically by about 40%. Normally, flat out 24/7, the machines\' total RAC ranges from 5,300 to 5,700.

Today (or after yesterday\'s update at the new later UK time), RAC has continued to increase, day by day, and is now at 7,757.

1) Credits increased by a typical 5,419 between last two credit updates - so no \"bonuses\" there.
2) Don\'t see similar increases with other team members (run custom team stats, so have checked last week\'s backup snapshot).
3) Only time RAC can jump significantly is after a period of detached network (e.g. on return from holiday when models left running).
4) Fastest machine has increased to 3,869 from a normal peak of 2,600. Even throttled this one back a couple of weeks ago.
5) Slowest machine is now at 1,261, normally around 500.

At first I assumed this may have been due to recent changed CPDN update time until I checked other people (point 2 above).

Main account page here.

Is this a clue? Have checked each PC\'s RAC again. The only one that has only just started a HadAM3P shows a typical RAC of 526.
The other three have been running these new models since they became available. Probably a red herring.

Wow, I only just realised when the stats box appeared in my signature that team Scotland has now passed
40,000,000 credits in BOINC overall!!!! Well done everyone!

Just to point out that 90% of Scotland\'s BOINC credits have been generated from
Climate projects - i.e. CPDN, BBC Experiment and Seasonal Attribution (SAP).
The CPDN total, of course, also includes Beta testing plus original Spinup and Classic models.

You can see a summary here showing a final total of 36 million credits from all climate projects
and that now includes over 25 million CPDN.

Not bad for a relatively small team ;-)

Welcome to new member Nigel who has just
joined Scotland in CPDN and has started trickling right away.
Some people join but never start!

Nigel also has 141,005 credits in the old BBC project (as seen in his
CPDN Accounts Data page). It appears he is not the same Nigel who was a
member of Scotland\'s BBC team (with fewer credits). BOINC Stats indicates
that Nigel is not a member of any team.

Nigel, if you see this post, feel free to join Scotland in BBC as well!

Must report that rrodway has completed THREE more 160 year models this week!
One more today following the 2 that appeared in latest stats update (yesterday).
Well done, Richard.

Combining CPDN and BBC 160 year models counts, team now have 240 overall (139 CPDN + 101 BBC).
With the latest release of more long models we should easily pass 150 CPDN and 250 overall.

160-year leaders - each with 10 or more:

rrodway: 34 (17 CPDN + 17 BBC)
adempster: 25 (All CPDN)
Iain Inglis: 25 (11 CPDN + 14 BBC)
dtkirk/labrat: 24 (15 CPDN + 9 BBC)
talister: 24 (14 CPDN + 10 BBC)
iansm/ianm: 16 (11 CPDN + 5 BBC)
scottishwebcams/IanB: 14 (9 CPDN + 5 BBC)

Hi Edward
Speaking of statistics, if you go here, you get model data from Feb 1st. Strange. But if you go here, you get up-to-date model data. Odd that.

Very odd. Both links do show yesterday\'s updated stats - from 2 PCs here.

Link 1 goes to \"active models\" sorted by % completed. Link 2 goes to same data but sorted by member.

All static HTML pages in server folder (43 in total) are definitely dated 16th Feb. Have updated stats several times since 1st Feb.
A browser issue? Seems like one (or more) of the pages have remained in cache from a previous link (on 1st?) and not got refreshed when re-linked.

There will be another stats update tomorrow!

Regards
Ian

We won\'t get to page 1 if we lose more members!

One of our members, who only joined in October, has just left
taking about 135k credits + 9 completed models.

Team Scotland have now reached 24 Million CPDN Credits!

We also note that our CPDN RAC is increasing again due to members
returning from the current Beta project to start more (production) models.
Currently, there are just 98 available HadAM3 models in Beta.

Should not be long before we get back to the first page of Top Teams RAC?

Congratulations to talister, who has just completed his 14th full-length CPDN model, which makes 153 climate models altogether for him, counting all the different types!

There are now just 14 long models still active.

See this page of our stats which shows that the last 160 year HadCM3 was downloaded on 26 Sept.

Will more become available?

The team total for long models is 135 so we may be just one short of 150
if all successfully complete. Add the 101 long ones in BBC so that could yield 250 overall!

Current leaders with over 100 climate models now stands at:

169 Iain Inglis
156 Talister
153 iansm (also exceeded 150 last week!)
125 adempster
103 scottishwebcams/IanB

Team Scotland have now completed over 1000 CPDN Models.

The total includes all completed models obtained from members\' CPDN results pages.

Including BBC (101) and SAP (87), almost 1200 climate project models have now been completed.

Well done everyone!

Many congrats to labrat, who yesterday completed yet another 160-year CPDN model - sorry I failed to notice how many long models that makes, but I did notice that it\'s his 50th climate model in total. Very well done, Doug! ;-)

The relevant page from our team statistics here lists individual counts of completed long models.
Tip: sort on the completed 160 year models column.

So, adempster is well ahead on 25 (20% of team total!) with labrat/dtkirk now tied with rrodway on 14.
Note that the team \"lost\" 13 completed 160 year models a few weeks ago when a leading cruncher left to help
setup a new team. Hopefully he may return (to boost our depleting credits/RAC + model counts)?

Cheers, Ian

Yes. It\'s a separate Project (though total credits are transferred to the main CPDN Project [except for current average]), so you must attach as a new member and set your preferences relative to CPDN (and other Projects) -- and for type of Model(s) desired. Note that BOINC Version 6.xx is necessary for some of the tests.

Ok, thanks all for replies - esp. above advice re BOINC 6. I had hoped to test 4-phase SM3 models. Now see that all test apps. are labelled 6.xx.

Do not wish to upgrade from version 5 at this time as the nominated quad still has a backlog of CM3 models to complete (estimated around early November).
Had planned to attach to Beta from a BOINC 5 session with active CPDN models then run 2 from each project concurrently.
If this is not a good idea (i.e. best to use a dedicated m/c for Beta testing) then I will defer testing until CM3 backlog completed and migrate to BOINC 6.

Can I only join Beta by attaching to the project (as a new member) from BOINC client?

Won\'t be ready to start for a few days until resource becomes available on one of my machines.
So just wanted to initially edit preferences (esp. to select model type, no. of processors) before I\'m ready to go.

But when trying the \"create an account\" link in Beta2 logon page it just goes to an empty page.

Thanks

40) Questions and Answers : Windows : Merge Computers Problem (Message 34118)
Posted 21 Jun 2008 by old_user353238
Post:
Cannot merge 2 computers in the \"Your Computers\" page.

See http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/hosts_user.php?userid=353238

They are the pair of stepping 7 quads (the other stepping 11 quad is a different machine).
Have tried the 2 merge methods. Using the \"Merge computers by name\" option at the foot of the above page, the response is -

Processing MI1
Warning: Missing argument 3 for hosts_compatible(), called in /var/www/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/inc/host.inc on line 409 and defined in /var/www/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/inc/host.inc on line 317

Can\'t merge host 865573 into 866377 - they\'re incompatible

Applied the XP SP3 update to the machine today so now we have one of the pair\'s OS description updated leaving the \"ghost\" one still at SP2.

The SP3 machine seems to be the \"live\" one (as far as CPDN is concerned (i.e. its \"last contact\" date gets updated) but the 4 active models are all listed
(with correct trickled data) in the ghost SP2 version! This problem existed before the SP3 update.

Am I stuck with this problem or is there any workaround?

Never had merge issues before recent server software upgrade - e.g. after a BOINC folder restore.
When this happens now (or after swapping folders between machines), the BOINC client generates a new id but is ignored by the server.

IanSM

P.S. I posted this issue in the CPDN forum, a few days ago, in an old but related thread. Apologies for repeating the question here.
