(Message 40813) Posted 4 Oct 2010 by [B^S] sTrey Post: Just started running CPDN again, regional PNW models only. I run only 1 CPDN task at a time; the other cores run other projects primarily WCG. This combination has not had any problems in the past and nothing else has changed on this rig. (6.10.58 on XP Pro 4GB, VM usage is staying within tolerable range) The 2nd model accumulated over 4 hours of clock time before I noticed it had zero cpu time. After suspending then restarting the client, the model restarted at zero elapsed time, and so far seems to be running normally. I've seen ice worlds but not had a model stall in this way before. If it's an occasional normal then never mind, but was just curious about this behavior. Apologize in advance if this is old news; didn't see it in the READMEs I looked at.

(Les, I had no backup yet, I had just suspended the task for the last week or more, and resumed it for a while to verify it wouldn\'t terminate itself). I\'ve aborted the task and will get another.

It\'s trickled just twice, got credit but neither trickle has appeared. I\'ve had the task suspended since, thinking this was a temporary part of the server issues. I believe the last trickle was on August 16th. I also see see a trickle_down_0 file in the slot dir with that date, containing <abort>cleanup</abort>, is that a killer trickle? fwiw I resumed the task for a bit and it shows no sign of stopping. I\'ve been wondering if it was safe to go back in the CPDN water wrt server and database issues. What do you advise here, should I let this short task go to completion or abort it and try another? Thanks Les, that's actually the thread I was referring to when saying it looked like it was a known issue. I'm guessing climate will give me more work when I've completed more of my existing model. Please check your settings on the web site. Except, how do I turn the GPU preference off so it will stop asking for work for it? I thought it was by project and I'm not seeing it in CPDN. I've ignored this new aspect of BOINC and am therefore,um, ignorant about it... p.s. from a brief scan of boinc message boards I gather this is a known issue and no way to turn it off by project at the moment.

(Message 37400) Posted 29 Jun 2009 by [B^S] sTrey Post: Sorry if this is a known thing -- been away for a while, tried a search but didn't see anything quite relevant. My account is currently set for hadam3p models only. Whenever the project is resumed it tries to get more work and then tells me none is available for the projects I've selected, etc., despite the status page which shows plenty hadam3p available -- and the number has changed over time so the page does seem functional. This has been true for weeks. I ignored it during the recent server issues and kept the project mostly suspended, but apparently servers are fixed and status page are fixed and it still says there are over 100K of these tasks but I still get this message. It'll be a while yet before my existing model completes but wondering what's causing the message / what I'm missing. I haven't changed my settings since I got the hadam3p I'm crunching now. Clues appreciated. (Windows XP, Boinc 6.6.20)
10) Message boards : Number crunching : Problems after SAP merger into CPDN (Message 33823) Posted 17 May 2008 by [B^S] sTrey Post: My cpdn model has been suspended since before SAP broke, due to cpdn server problems and non-cpdn circs. SAP is now suspended on all my hosts, but it\'s still named climateprediction.net so if I force an update I still get the you\'re-already-attached-to-cpdn-please-detach messages. So I wasn\'t clear if the redirect has truly been fixed... Does it appear safe to let normal cpdn models continue to run and contact the server, or do I need to wait for SAP to recover and the duplicate identity to go away first?
