1) Questions and Answers : Windows : Running Multiple Projects (Message 34336)

Hi,

I\'ve been trying to run multiple projects at the same time, proteins@home, climateprediction.net, lhathome , QMC@home, spinhenger@home . I\'ve set them to share the resources in the account options of each project (i\'ve set them all to 50% share but could to 25%). However i\'m only ever having one project run at one time. Is this the way they share? one has 3 hours and then stops then another has 3 hours and so on?

thanks

Hey,

I\'ve asked questions about this before but didn\'t really get much help, but i\'m still having problems with it.

I get this message all the time
7/16/2008 10:49:47 PM|World Community Grid|Message from server: Invalid or missing account key. Visit this project\'s web site to get an account key.
7/16/2008 10:49:47 PM|World Community Grid|Deferring communication for 1 hr 0 min 0 sec

I have this a lot, and my client seems to have stalled. I thought it may have been because i had been running this old project that was overdue so i aborted that project and started another. But now i\'m getting those same messages again.

My client seems like it needs the account key, i can see it plain as day on the \"your account\" page on the left of climateprediction.net but there is no where in the bionic client to place this key. The time remaining on my client keeps ticking upwards so something is a miss?

can anyone help me resolve this issue?

thanks in advance

Yes, you will need to worry about it if you wish to return to crunching for World Community Grid.
It\'s needed to access your account on the relevant project, as an alternative to a password.

As for being overdue on this project, it doesn\'t matter, as the \'deadline\' is ignored.

how do i update the access keys into the bionic client? i couldn\'t see a place for them in the options?

Hi,

I got this message today,

7/10/2008 2:40:28 PM|World Community Grid|Message from server: Invalid or missing account key. Visit this project\'s web site to get an account key.

i can see the account keys on the website, but i can\'t see anywhere to put them in the bionic client (i looked through the options/preferences).

Do i need to worry about this message? my client was inactive for 6 months and is 180 days over due.

thanks

Hi

I\'ve been away from my computer for 6 months and my bionic client has the message \"Task hadcm3iozn_coo6_2000_80_15899075_1 is 178.44 days overdue\" \"you may not get credit for it. consider aborting it\"

I\'ve only received that message once tonight, should i see if i get it again or just terminate that job? it\'s 50% done with still 990 hours to go.

thanks guys :)

Every complete 10-year period, which results in a zip file being sent to the server, is used for the research, so what you\'ve done will definitely not be wasted.

It\'s not easy to convince everybody that boinc projects are a good idea, is it? I feel the same way about bungee-jumping.

yeah when i get into my uni break i\'m going to email the deal to see if i can convince him to put it on the library computers, 100\'s of computer just sitting there while people look at email and the library catalogue

IF you wait until the model reaches just over 25% (1960) before aborting it, the model will send a \'restart dump\' to the servers. This can theoretically be used to continue onwards from that point.

cool, thanks guys, i should reach 25% so maybe i\'d consider dumping it, but i worry that may actually mean that the work gets lost and wasted so maybe i\'ll just hang onto it for the 6 months and see how other people go. Unfortunatly i haven\'t been able to convince my friends to get on bionic :(

Hi,

I\'ve been running a climateprdiction app in my Bionic client for a while now and it\'s at 22% still with 1400hr s to go. I\'ll be going overseas for 6 months soon and as i understand it this means that the job number will probably be given to someone else due to my inactivity.

What i\'m wondering is whether its possible to pass on the data i\'ve processed to someone else so they can continue it? Its seems a waste to hahve processed all these hours (511) to just have it someone else start from scratch.

thanks

I too was surprised at the amount of processing time needed, i thought only small chunks of data would be sent and processed within a week. I\'ve got a p4 2.4ghz with 512mb, its saying 70days to to a hadcm3i project. Now that i assume i\'ve downloaded the project, can i disconnect from the internet at any time and turn off my computer periodically? Or do i have to stay online to get these \"trickles\" sent?

thanks

orfeo

OK. Thanks, I\'ll keep at it. Though I wish it\'d send the first credit request. I\'d feel a lot happier then.
Cheers folks

Your first trickle made it to CPDN. In the daily credit run you will get some. This runs sometime between 04:00UTC and 10:00UTC (usually when I am in bed).

Good job so far! Your t/s speed is right on the mark.
