To Complete - Large Increase
(Message 13509)
Posted 17 Jun 2005 by old_user468 Post: Just wondering whether this is normal. I have been happily processing a work unit for 400 hours - I was on target to complete the unit in about 600 hours in total - so only had 200 hours left to go. I have also been sending trickles a couple of times a day. I noticed that I had not sent a trickle for the last couple of days, checked the “To Complete†time in BOINC, and it had jumped to 10,477 hours to complete. Is this normal? Will this go back to about 200 hours as it was and send trickles? Or is it really 10,000 hours left to process? As 10,000 hours is over a year, I'm not going to complete it before my deadline. I am using a P4 2.66Ghz processor and running version 4.43. Regards, Si. |

Rebooted and lost my workunit
(Message 4242)
Posted 17 Sep 2004 by old_user468 Post: I was about 30% through processing a workunit. My computer froze, so I had to power it off to reboot it. Upon reloading, my workunits (both SETI and CP) were all lost, and it just reloaded a new workunit and started processing from 0%. Anyone know why this is? I am running Windows XP with 1GB of RAM and an AMD XP2800+ CPU. CP Stops Processing
(Message 3245)
Posted 7 Sep 2004 by old_user468 Post: I have a problem with CP on my Windows 2000 machine. It chugs away all day processing my work unit. I only have CP running on BOINC. So far it has processed 115 hours into the work unit. This figure would of been higher, because at 12 noon every day, my PC runs a virus scan for about 30mins. Whilst the virus scan is processing, CP stops processing the work unit. When the virus scan is complete, the processing of the work unit does not re-start in BOINC. I have to stop and re-start the BOINC program. This obviously means that when I leave the machine unattended (over the weekend) I do not get any more processing completed past noon on Saturday. Any idea why this happens and how to stop it? Si. |

Status \"PREEMPTED\"
(Message 2087)
Posted 29 Aug 2004 by old_user468 Post: What does status Preemted mean? CP has now stopped processing and has just downloaded another CP workunit - but has still not stated processing the new work unit. I am running SETI and CP - both with 50% share of processing time. This happened shortly after SETI downloaded it\'s first work units. Si. |
