:-) thanks!

And thanks! That's good enough - now I can get emails. Just have to remember to subscribe.

> Under BOINC cp.net (in My cp.net from the home page).
>
> Preferences are under Your account.

Got it thanks.

These forums are impossible to keep up with. In fact I have lost the two threads I started. An email sent when a thread I started, participated in, or subscribed to, would be good. A lot of other forums do this.

I've given up with the Windows XP SP2 firewall. It breaks far too many programs - in particular P2P like emule.

> If you are able to post here you should be logged in already and able to edit
> your settings. You may be trying to get to the CPDN classic page instead of
> the BOINC page.

Where is the BOINC page? I can't seem to navigate this site very easily.
7) Questions and Answers : Windows : 1st download is going to take 883 hrs to complete (Message 2574)

> Experience of CPDN under the classic model suggests that once any teething
> problems are sorted out models do run to completion on most machines, but
> there are difficulties with PCs that are underpowered, or unstable becuase of
> heavy overclocking, overheating, etc. Even machines that appear fairly
> reliable in other circumstances can be challenged by CPDN - it is a heavy duty
> application (which is an attraction to many of us!). Personally, I've run 17
> full models under BOINC classic and not had an unrecoverable error running
> release software.

My errors were due to my crappy Gigabyte dual athlon board. It's Abit only from now on! (Gigabyte was the only one I could source in the UK at the time). The PC was just locking up completely whether it was doing anything or not. I think it's better now - motherboard monitor (monitors temperatures etc) was pissing off the board a little, and also I think the cheap raid card has dodgy drivers.

> Hello, welcome to the world of climate modelling. You will never run out of
> workunits again! :-)

Well I've often had work units destroyed if my PC crashes (SETI on BOINC 3). Will this screw up everything I've done in that work unit? Or have the trickles sent the data back to the server so it can be continued from that point by me or someone else?

Anyone else not been able to log in? I\'ve just set up an account (yesterday) and I\'m trying to look at / adjust my preferences. It asks for an email and password. I have never been given a password, so I left it blank for it to email me it, but it then tells me \"login failure\".
