(not English or German) If so, you could help by becoming a translator for one of the BOINC stats sites - http://www.allprojectstats.com/overview.php?type=new Have a look at the charts and layout. Please contact Markus by sending a PM. ( register for the forum 1st ) http://www.allprojectstats.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=98 Thank you! |

(Message 29015)
Posted 27 May 2007 by John Hunt Post: Calling all members of BOINC@AUSTRALIA! You may be aware that Aussie Assault 7 is due to begin (on 01 June) and will run until 14 June. The target is WCG - World Community Grid. This project actually crunches four separate causes:- 1) Fight Aids at home 2) Genome comparison 3) Human Proteome folding 4) Help cure Muscular Dystrophy WCG is slightly different to the other BOINC projects. If you have any difficulty attaching, check the team forum. Help is available! Any other \'homeless\' crunchers out there who would like to join in the fun, feel free - we are the No.1 Australian team, currently in 18th position Combined Boinc World ranking. Visit the team forum here for more details about the team. |

Pirates interfering with CPDN ?
(Message 28622)
Posted 12 May 2007 by John Hunt Post: I think John, who\'s a wealthy Insurance Executive 8O and part time spy ;), should buy another 512M stick of RAM. Definitely not wealthy! I\'ll have to put in a bit of overtime to fund a RAM upgrade. This is the 3rd time I\'ve had the problem of \'not enough memory\' - 1st - I couldn\'t do SAP (when it was still going) 2nd - Some of the WCG WUs need 1G to run. 3rd - now I can\'t run CPDN alongside other projects as I have done in the past. Looking on the positive side though - this old machine of mine hasn\'t done too badly. I\'ll do the upgrade as a reward for when it passes the quarter million credits...... |

Pirates interfering with CPDN ?
(Message 28600)
Posted 11 May 2007 by John Hunt Post: Thanks everyone for the help here. Two things mentioned by mo.v that probably caused this morning\'s crash - 1) Yes - my machine does an automatic AV scan every morning at 0900 GMT. 2) My PC is a Pentium 4 H/T and it was running ABC alongside the CPDN model with no problems. It must have been the addition of the AV scan that tipped it \'over the edge\'. 3) (For fun....) Is there really a screensaver that you can see on BOINC projects? |

Posted 11 May 2007 by John Hunt Post: Thanks for the explanation, Les - much appreciated! Correct - I don\'t have a display card. Do you need to change the system requirements section in the \'Getting Started\' section? Other prospective crunchers may be in the same situation as myself..... |

Posted 11 May 2007 by John Hunt Post: That\'s strange. I\'ve run CPDN before on this PC and managed to finish a sulphur model previously..... Perhaps the requirements for this project have changed. I\'ll run other projects where 512MB of RAM is sufficient. |

Heres the logfile from CPDN - http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=6508719 Very frustrating - the WU was just getting started........... |

Posted 10 Mar 2007 by John Hunt Post: G\'day crunchers everywhere! We are now starting Aussie Assault 6 (AA6). After being runner up in the last few polls for the AA, Einstein has been chosen to be the project which will receive our concentrated attention for the next few weeks. Bruce Allen who is the Forum moderator, Project administrator, Project developer and Project scientist for Einstein has agreed, after much persuasion from members of the Team, and instigated by Mike Mitchell, to crunch Einstein for our Team. He has started this already and his numbers are very impressive. The Aussie Assaults are a regular team-building exercise we run here at BOINC@AUSTRALIA - the results are always impressive and we have great fun at the same time. In the last Assault (on ABC@Home) another team - l\'Alliance Francophone - learnt how much fun these assaults can be and helped both BOINC@AUSTRALIA and the project itself achieve spectacular results. (overview of that assault here.) So - Gentlemen - START YOUR ENGINES !!! (PSSST - Les - Wanna join us?) |

Posted 25 Feb 2007 by John Hunt Post: *** UPDATE TIME ! *** Almost two weeks have passed since AA5 on ABC@Home drew to a nail-biting close. Both teams - BOINC@AUSTRALIA and l\'Alliance Francophone gained a lot from the two weeks. We have also gained ground in combined ranking - now placed 25th overall in team ranking. Some of the guys are having a \'mini-assault\' on one of the \'medical\' projects - why not visit our forums and see if you can find out which project? All of the individual project sub-fora are open to public view. Link to the forums index - http://xsorbit31.com/users5/boincaustralia/index.php Next item on the agenda for the team? Discussions will be opening shortly to decide the target for AA6! |

Posted 14 Feb 2007 by John Hunt Post: The Aussie Assault on ABC@Home is coming to an end and it has been a fantastic experience for all involved. l\'Alliance Francophone ran up nearly three million credits and us Aussies are just creeping up to the two million mark now. At the end of the day, though, it\'s not just the credits - it\'s the enjoyment of competition, team spirit and understanding different nationalities/cultures. The guys at AF now realise exactly what we try to achieve on these Aussie Assaults and have thanked us for showing them something extra that can be gained from BOINCing. The head honcho on the project - Hendrik - deserves a special mention for keeping everything together while two teams of looneys went at it hammer and tongs! Looking forward to Aussie Assault 6.......... |
