Deep Thought from Green Keeper Software for OSX
(Message 10046)
Posted 26 Feb 2005 by old_user6655 Post: I have installed Deep Thought and use it to control Seti@Home, Einstein@Home and ClimatePrediction and have had no problems with it so far. I used to use a shell script to control these projects but had problems stopping and starting BOINC - Deep Thought allows me to stop and start very easily. Geoff Roynon |

Can\'t restart BOINC after killing it
(Message 9479)
Posted 17 Feb 2005 by old_user6655 Post: I have been running BOINC for awhile now with no pproblems. I have a shell script in my startup folder that fires up BOINC whenever I reboot (which is not very often). This works fine and BOINC runs happily while I do other things. Recently I have been playing a game which BOINC appears to slow down so I kill the BOINC process using Activity Monitor. I have a copy of the shell script that I use to start BOINC but when I run this to get BOINC up again it fails. I get the following messages in the log: 2005-02-16 22:08:03 [---] Starting BOINC client version 4.19 for powerpc-apple-darwin Enter the URL of the project: You should have already registered with the project and received an account key by email. Paste the account key here: 2005-02-16 22:08:03 [http:///] Project prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults Why does the same shell script work fine after a reboot but not after BOINC has been killed? Any hints gratefully received. Thanks Geoff Roynon |

Can\'t get CPDNspy to work - anyone have clear instructions?
(Message 2971)
Posted 4 Sep 2004 by old_user6655 Post: It appears that CPDNspy is using back-slash instead of forward-slash for filenames on the Mac so it will never find the file it is looking for. This is from the Console log: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /Users/jeff/Library/BOINC\sched_reply.xml (No such file or directory) I set the path to: /Users/jeff/Library/BOINC and it appears CPDNspy added the \sched_reply.xml suffix. This file does exist in the location but with a forward-slash. I guess we will have to wait for the next version and hope this gets fixed. Geoff Roynon London, UK PowerMac G4/450 |

Can\'t get CPDNspy to work - anyone have clear instructions?
(Message 2403)
Posted 31 Aug 2004 by old_user6655 Post: I have been running Seti on Boinc for a while and today I added Climate Prediction. It appears to be running O.K. (lots of messages in Terminal) but I can\'t get the CPDNspy addon to work. I run Boinc from /Users/jeff/Seti/ I have the CPDNspy folder installed in this location and set it up to point at this location but the Progress screen has no information when I run the spy program. What is the exact name I need to place in the \"Path\" setting? Thanks Geoff |
