It's just a shame that Windows people have to find and abort the correct faulty models themselves.

I'm sorry Les to be such a pain, I didn't read about this. Which ones are we looking for to abort?

Okay, I think I know what confused me, I thought that the model hadn't run at all (started) because it says no response. So, I guess I understand, thanks.

I realize there is much about this project and BOINC for that matter that I don't understand, but this has me truly baffled. I was looking at my computer errors and came across this.

http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=8400848

The one where it says "Timed out - no response" (in red), I just don't see how this person could be granted 1244 points for doing nothing. Is it a glitch in the method it was reported? Will it sort it's self out at a latter date?

Sorry if this has been gone over before somewhere else, I ran a search and didn't find anything.

What are they called when the model gets to 25%, 50%, 75% etc. They are usually 51 to 52MB in size, those aren't trickle up's? We don't get any credit for those? I have never seen one of these tiny files before, not even a mention of their uploading in the logs. These little trickle up files are going somewhere because there not in my upload queue. I now have over 500MB of hadcm3n files waiting to upload.

Can't upload trickle-up's, got 4 waiting. The log says that the server is out of disc space.

That's strange, I've uploaded several 52MB trickle up's today and have one going at full speed (for my DSL) right now. I'm having issue's with GPUGrid but not CPDN.

Well, 3600 new jobs and counting, European Region models, I hope they all work okay (I'm sure they will).

Edit: Over 5000 now, life is good ATM.

You won't get any errors if you do it right, I've done it three or four times and the hardware doesn't matter. Might I suggest an Enterprise class hard drive, they have a longer validation process and warranty.

You need to find both the program files folder and the data folder, install the exact same version of BOINC then copy and past both folders back where they belong and it should work.

The full resolution ocean models are very sensitive to the computer rebooting without a proper shut down, what I'm saying is if the computer just froze, the model my error out no matter what you do. Good luck.

I'm sorry Les, what is ANZ? I don't think I've heard of that one, I hope you don't mind me picking you're brain for a moment, I am wondering about the Full Resolution Ocean models. What ocean are they modeling and what exactly are they looking for? I've read allot of you're posts and you seem very knowledgeable about this project.

Thanks in advance.

Oh man, are you serious? Another bad batch? Maybe those boys need a vacation. I hope my computers don't get put on probation from these and the PNW wu's. Ah well, I guess we wait.

Hey Les, how long do you suppose it would take before they roll out the new Africa project?

I have the same thing, I have 8 wu's stuck in the download queue. My log says temporarily failed download and they all go in to "Project Backoff". Funny thing is, as soon as I finish a wu, it will start up one of the stuck downloads and allow it to complete.

Now the South African download server is down, why doesn't that surprise me? The techs at Oxford could care less about this project. The whole worlds watching them, I hope they never put it on their rsum.
