1) Message boards : Cafe CPDN : Will the new BOINC version destroy current work unit? (Message 11208)

SETI is refusing to download work units until I upgrade to the the new release of BOINC. I'm somewhat nervous about doing this because the last time I upgraded to a new version of BOINC it promptly got an error on my then-current climateprediction.net work unit, downloaded a new one and started over from scratch. I was at about 30% on that model and have just gotten back up to 30% on the new one. Has anyone successfully upgraded to the new BOINC (4.19, I think) without loosing their work to date on the ClimatePrediction model?

I just noticed the globe in the BOINC climatepredictor screensaver go completely white (except for outlines of continents, etc.) for a while before returning to a more normal set of colors. Is this a known bug in the screensaver or did the model freeze the world down to 0 degrees K for a while?

I'm having the same problem - can't instal 4.05 on one of my computers. I tried your suggestion of uninstalling the previous version, still no success. Clicking on the downloaded 4.05 package results in a half-second display of the unzip display, followed by a second or so of an hourglass, then the cursor goes back to an arrow without anything having been installed. It installs fine on my other computer. Both are Win2kPro, pentium class machines with plenty of memory. Any other ideas on how to install 4.05?
