Posted 4 May 2006 by racinjimy Post: Regarding \'watch the boards\' -- there seem to have been some issues starting last week, and there were some \'patches\' to things here -- but I suspect until this coming work week, the complete fixes won\'t be quite in place. the patches are in references to an error message running the 5.4.X \"beta\" versions of BOINC in no way does it affect performance, its just annoying yes the trickle server will catch up, CPDN has never been in the habit of shorting people on creits |

Posted 30 Apr 2006 by racinjimy Post: if you look through your models, your recent aborted model was downloaded April 2005 the model you downloaded in 2004 errored out you now have a dual core processor with your pentiumD so you can run two models simultaneously to speed things up in your preferences change: leave applications in memory while pre-empted - YES check out the BOINC wiki for more information also remember to do regular backups so that your hard work doesn\'t go to waste in case of power outage etc....... |

Posted 26 Apr 2006 by racinjimy Post: your not going to re-install XP after a motherboard change, you are mad......mad I tell you I have done this when going from the DFI NF4 SLI-DR to teh eXpert but these are the SAME chipset and I still debated it I would DEFINITELY re-install XP when performing a major motherboard change the only conceivable way to avoid this would be to uninstall all your drivers, then use something like \"drive cleaner pro\" to rid yourself of the \"junk\" left behind and try it I suspect you will have issues as the registry will be bloated full of crap If you want 2Gb of ram go for 2X1Gb sticks 4X512Mb is hard to get running right on the AMD64 platform as Mike said |

Will increasing RAM upset the programme running?
(Message 21922)
Posted 6 Apr 2006 by racinjimy Post: I hope that you are going to remove your 512MB stick and replace it with 2 X 1GB sticks AMD boards do not like more than two sticks of ram and certainly do not like mismatched sticks of ram after you put your new ram in, run memtest and prime, make sure things are stable what I then do is backup CPDN and run it with networking suspended for a few days just to make sure it doesn\'t crash.........if it does I restore the backup and try to figure out what i fuc#ed up |
