It looks like all my credit has come back as well , and that includes a merged machine that was also part of the beta test (the merge only being done in the last few days).

So it does look like your restore has done the trick :)

Obviously something is very wrong at the cpdn end as my credit has gone down by yet another 10k (thats 20k gone so far today), I think most if not all of that is from machines that were only added to cpdn a couple of days ago, all of which are still running fine.

I noticed that my credits have been going in reverse today as well ,
started off at 28k , then down to 25k , now its at 18K.

I did do a merge the other day after a reinstall ?

It may be that just credits from runs that failed to complete have gone , which is fine by me as it never felt right getting credit for them anyway.

I had a couple of machines fail to complete the run due to running out of disk space, not sure how boinc accounted for the needed space for two runs at he start (on hyperthreaded machines).

Assuming that seti does launch 4.xx and it is compatible with CPDN the fact that participants will not be able to use predictor as their "backup" project for a while , could be a real bonus for CPDN as it will temporaily be the only compatible project to run to keep machines crunching something whilst seti is down/out of work etc.

5) Message boards : climateprediction.net Science : How many users/hosts can CPDN boinc handle when it goes live ? (Message 1184)

Post:
I was just wondering how many users/hosts that the CPDN boinc servers are expected to be able to cope with when it goes live ?

If the predictor and seti servers are still having teething problems at that point , is there any danger of CPDN boinc being overwhelmed and if so will the account creation facility be temporarily capped to try and avoid the problems the other projects have had when dealing with large loads untill it is known just what the servers can handle ?

> > You are aware that the current climateprediction.net boinc beta version
> is not
> > the same as the current public releases for seti and predictor and is
> not
> > currently compatible with them either.
>
> Shady, I am running as per the link of invitation, I set up a seperate
> directory for CPDN, and setiboinc has it's own directory, of course
> I am not running both projs. simultaneously. Yes I am aware CPDN and
> SB are not the same....
>
>
>I see that you had confirmed some of my questions whilst I was typing my last reply. (that will teach me to answer the phone mid reply :D)

When I look at the boinc gui I can see the cputime increasing by the second , the progress changes slowly , the est time to compleation changes , and the status shows as running ? (which is the same as for seti or predictor).

I have not tried to run climate prediction boinc beta on a machine that was previously running another version of boinc as I have kept them seperate and wonder if something in the registry is the cause of your problem ?
Do you know if the CPDN client is actually "crunching" or not ? (aka cpu usage)

> Does the current Boincgui work with
> CPDN? I run the climate client, but
> the boincgui gives no status of
> "running" as it does with SetiBoinc,
> only shows "ready"....etc.
>
> Xi3
>
> When you run boinc 4.02 (the current climateprediction beta version) , it should connect to the servers and download and start the appropriate client itself, which inturn will download the appropriate "work unit".

On the machines that I am running the beta , the gui looks and behaves just like the public release does for either seti or predictor.

You are aware that the current climateprediction.net boinc beta version is not the same as the current public release\s for seti and predictor and is not currently compatible with them either.

You need to make sure that you are running the version as per the link contained in your climate prediction boinc beta invite email.

If you are running the none boinc version of CPDN , then the boinc gui will not show anything for it as it is outside the scope of boinc.
