7) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Removing hosts (Message 21990)
Posted 11 Apr 2006 by USTL-FIL (Lille Fr)
Post:
Hi,

i have 150 hosts using linux/boinc 4.43 for CPDN.
I will partialy replace theses hosts whith new (new hardware-new system-new boinc).

If i can\'t delete the old hosts, i will have a hosts list with more than 300 hosts!

in fact, i can\'t merge hosts whith the same name if the hardware is not the same.

So, please add a \'remove host\' preference!

Thanks.
8) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : Don\'t get new work (Message 21484)

Thanks for your reply!

This is a good idea, but i\'m runnin boinc 4.43 on linux and there is no boinc_cmd.

I\'m trying to control boinc 4.43 core whith boinc_cmd from 5.2.13,
but i can\'t connect... (gui_rpc not allowed)

so,
I put the boinc_cmd in the boinc directory on each hosts and run it by ssh
like

ssh [host] \'/boincpath/boinc_cmd --project http://climateprediction.net nomorework\'

and it work :)

so boinc_cmd is able to control old boinc core(4.43)

Mickaël

Hi,

Well, I don\'t know as I don\'t use ssh.
Did you try to use the boinc_cmd (same thing as the BoincManager (the GUI) but using only the command-line):

./boinc_cmd [--host hostname] [--passwd passwd] --project url {reset | detach | update | suspend | resume | nomorework | allowmorework}

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/boinc_cmd.php

Hi,

I\'m running boinc CPDN on 150 hosts and i want to send them the signal \'Don\'t get new work\' because i reinstall all hosts in a few week.
does anyone know how to send this signal by ssh on all hosts ( or modif a xml file?) without running the GUI.

Thanks.

Mickaël.
10) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : Boinc process use 100% CPU (Message 17118)
Posted 10 Nov 2005 by USTL-FIL (Lille Fr)
Post:
Hello,

i have 2 problems with boinc 4.43 for Linux.

First, when i connect to a host with SSH an run boinc,
i can\'t logout! i must kill the process from remote host.

And the second problem, i have a lot of hosts where the boinc process use 100% of CPU when it must be idle (time of day config)
i can\'t stop it , so i must use kill -9 boinc.
I have 150 hosts and today, all of them are in this state!

Thanks for your help!
