Post: I am dropping BOINC. I have waited almost three weeks now. Just as when I tried CPDN classic last year, I don't have the warm and cozy feeling everything is good enough to risk all those hours. There are more projects such as orbit@home, planetquest, and folding@home which are coming on line and I can try. My one computer probably can't crunch everything I like, so this seems a good time to cut back. I think CPDN is a great project, but again there is just too much to lose and too many things that are not going right after a year of BOINCing. <img src="http://www.boincsynergy.com/images/stats/comb-744.jpg"> |

Post: xml stats upgraded so you can see your rank. Ulrich, please let me know if you lose credit or science on your phase 3. What worries me most about climate is reports of lost data. Three hours lost computing time is nothing, 13 hours is something, but nine months of computing is too much to risk being lost! Post: I just started in the middle of the troubles. A few days ago I finally got my third trickle and I just received my first credits so they are making progress. For those concerned with rankings, if they have time to upgrade their XML stats today then that should reflect in our score. At least we are going in the right direction. All projects are down from time to time. The beauty of BOINC is that you can crunch something else in the meantime. <img src="http://www.boincsynergy.com/images/stats/comb-744.jpg"> |

Post: I don't mind being patient. I know this is science, but you missed the point. If I have to figure out which programs to just open the download and which of three downloaded files to use in which order, let alone installing and using it, it is not worth my time. Showing the status of your computations is a natural thing that people who are donating their computers want. I am disturbed by posts suggesting that the upload may not work automatically and you may have to search through your harddrive to find the missing files. This is absolutely unique to CPDN of all the main BOINC projects. It is especially worrying since I will be risking such a large amount of computing time. Three hours is nothing, 10 hours is significant, but three months of distributed computing is a huge investment. As I said I will give BOINC CPDN at least a full two weeks and keep an open mind during that time. <img src="http://www.boincsynergy.com/images/stats/comb-744.jpg"> |
