41) Message boards : Number crunching : failed upload: can't resolve hostname (Message 47265)

I guess this is apid-wattch thing is a linux problem.
Saw the same thing back in february in cpdnbeta when attaching a new box with 3.5 linux kernel, upload servers stanford and cpdnbeta got misspelled as staanford and pdnbeta in client-state.xml, also got apid in classic.
Got tired of it and reinstalled old ubuntu10 with 2.6 kernel and all was fine.
Then in july tried lubuntu 13.04 with 3.8 kernel and it was 23% faster! in hadcmn.6.07 but with the same apid crap, then tried to edit the client-state.xml to rapid-watch on all four lines for every task and it works :-)
Me thought the speedup was due to the light desktop in lubuntu but then newly installed linuxmint-15 and it's the same nice speed, yuipee! On par with windows now?
This is with boinc 6.4-6.10.58, higher got problems with libraries, don't like symbolic links and i am lazy, heh

Edit: this is only one box i sit and edit the client-state.xml in and don't bother much but it surely should be fixed if others have problems too

If I remember well: Carl wrote the origional stats scripts, then he left, stats got overloaded by additional crunchers and he came back on a short visit and rewroted it to the slimmer way that works today.

Miss you Carl :-)

Ed: Oh, Belfry, silly me better leave this thread then, heh

Well, why not just phone Carl and ask how it works..
I recall from earlier days that these Oxfordians debated if credits are necessary.

There is no work for Linux either.

The Mac and Linux version of hadam3p 6.08 came late and have some old problems on the Beta site.
Hadam3p is sponsored by microsoft .... ;-)

Why the heck is there no graphic showing on these models?

They'll be along later. There hasn't been time to write the graphs program yet.

And you know about this?

Would feel better to have an answer from a project scientist

Not 'wiped out', archived.

This is mentioned on people's Account pages, not far from the top.

1.80-1.89 s/TS on Linux, much faster than the last batch on the Beta site

Thanks for that note cwhyl. The applications build date suggests it was compiled back in 2008, and I would swear that that version was slow on Linux. Perhaps a rebuild that isn't advertised on the applications page?

Ah, I compared to the latest highly optimised 6.05/Beta batch that was 2.7!! times slower than Jims' Q9550/2.8 GHz Win7

My boxen is Q6600 at 3.2-3.4 GHz

I don't remember the speed of the latest hadcm I ran here some years ago and the record seem to have been wiped out :-(

Here I've seen 1.11 and 1.50 s/Ts on newer windows i-series machines

My four models haves past the first decade and uploaded the 15Mb 1.zip

I thought they would show some graph like in the former hadcm variants I ran, no?

I don\'t think it\'s so great.
It\'s not stable.
25% slower on Linux.

Won\'t be running here.
