Hi,

My project ended with "computation Error" at about 50% complete and after 292 hours of CPU Time!
It is currently stuck in status "Trickle Up message pending" and has been since the server went off air for mtc. The server shows it (Task 15870760) as "In Progress"

Is there a fix for this or will I have to Abort it? If it doesn't get sorted soon it will not be completed by the deadline anyway.

Simon
Check the news page. The server is being worked on, but is old and having problems. When it is back up it will accept the trickels and you will get credit for the part completed.

At 50% there is a good chance that another computer will be able to run it correct, most of us have had that happen and have completed ones that others had problems with.

The only bad part is that BOINC will delete it from your system after a certin number of try's to upload, think that it is 100 try's. With the other projects that I have running I have to keep mine connected. That i7 runs through the Simap units fast.

Would be good if we could turn the network off for one project but not the others but that is just dreaming. I would be happy to do half of a model before reporting.

Was traveling so I did not check for 3 days, but I see that my units uploaded all trickels this morning. I must have been the reboot of Apache that did it.

Many of us would like that but they will not build it in, could be that if someone wrote it for then it would go to production.

If you know how to write that and have a compiler you can download the code to put it in.

I have the same thing on the laat model completed. The last 5 trickels are waiting to upload now. Mine hang up at 100% and I have credit for them already so it looks like the upload server is just not letting me system know that it has them.

I have been traveling and the trickels were completed in two states in the US far from where I live. Had this happen before and when I got home they reported.

Also if there is a problem with the upload server it may not show up to many people when most are out of work for this project. Hope there is more work before to long.

Cheers
Ray

Hope that they get power back to NY and NJ sooner than they planned. Last night was to cold to go without heat and another storm for tomorrow.

Guess that I am lucky, about 25 miles north of where the distruction started, only had one gutter dented from a tree and the new car is covered with dents from flying branches. Neighbor has a 75 foot tall Maple tree that is dying and it lost a lot of weak branches. Dents can be repaired, gutter put back up all that is important is that no one was hurt here.

The neighbor has wanted to take that tree down for a long time but it is hard to get at, so would cost almost $2,000 which he can not afford. I refuse to park the car in my parking space in back of the house when a storm comes because of the tree. This time I parked in the front yard and the still got the car. Left the old car in back (the one I wanted the tree to crush) and it was untuched. Just can't win with that tree.

Are you having problems with your mouse sending extra clicks?

That is a known disk problem in the upload server, a replacement is being worked on.

I lost some, two days ago I was at 319444 credits by BoincStats amd Boinc Synergy. Have been earning about 1500/day on beta so I should be around 325 thousand. Now the site says 316,351. A loss of about 9,000 credits.

EDIT
BoincStats was just updated, new figures there.

316,351.00
Comprising 319,444.39 from the daily update
+ -3,093.39 since then

And the credits from 2 days ago were never added there.

Were you able to get the accounts to link together?

Milo turned on access to the BBC databases so you can change your email address there. Just let him know when it is done so he can turn it off again.

The day after those pictures were taken the weather service was here to inspect the damage and said that a tornado hit about a K away from where I took those pictures. They had a lot more damage where it made a direct hit but I did not go there to take pictures. It took two days to get some roads open again.

That was the 2nd one to hit the state this year. Most years we do not have any so this must be a record for us. The first one this year hit in Bridgeport, CT.

January to July was the warmest half year on record for Connecticut and we just finished the hottest July on record.

I am really getting to hate global warning. The long range forcast is for summer weather up to November this year, that is way to late into the fall for it. Is anyone ready for another ICE AGE?

Thanks, Thyme Lawn - I think I did in fact change my email address after the BBC project stopped, but that was quite a while ago and I'm pretty sure my BBC & CPDN credits remained integrated for some time after that. In any case, surely my BBC credits should still be showing separately on the BOINC overall list for the team. All most odd.

The credits would be linked together by your CPID, which would change when you changed your email. If you updated your email address at CPDN but not at BBC they unlink. The BBC site is down now, if they bring it back up later and you update your address there they will link together again in a day or two.

The system that was giving problems is doing good now. Another stated having problems today when it reported a complete model.

7/28/2010 9:55:21 AM climateprediction.net Message from server: (reached daily quota of 4 tasks)

As that system still has one running I will not worry about it. I have CPDN set to NNW and will try when the one running gets closer to the end.

The server did issue a Phantem unit to it this morning, but I only recieved the reached daily quota of 4 tasks message when that was sent.

Will try again when the running model completes. Will be good when Berkley finds what is causing this so all projects can benefit from the fix.

On the Famous models that keep crashing on people, is the info in the uploads that are produced along the way still of use to the project.

When you look at units you notice that a model crashes at the same point on all systems. If we know that the info sent in is still a help we will not feel as bad about so many crashing.

The question is - How to free such phantom tasks?
I found no solution. I tried Reset project and Detach -> Re-attach... No effect. The tasks are still shown as In progress.

You can not take them off your list of tasks, they will stay there till the unit is finished by others and it is removed from the server database. That may take a long time as they tend to leave all work there for a few years.

I completed a model today and the computer get two right after that. If you are having problems getting work and have one running it appears that the server code will reset your quota when one gets turned in. That looked good after weeks of not being able to get a 2nd model.

One model completed today, and the computer downloaded two right after that. Guess that the server just wanted to be sure mine could complete one before resetting the quota after those download errors. Hope others with this can get them after reporting.

We are a little better on the rain than you are but still short for June and July. Lawns were brown but greening up again after getting two days with some rain so far this July. I am lucky with the garden as there is an underground stream below it. The stream is far down for all the water it needs but allows it to stay damp longer after rain or watering.

You sure had a hot day when Queen Elizabeth visited your city.

Western Massachusetts and Connecticut have about the same weather. But the Berkshires have colder winters than I get. My sons are both in North Carolina and they have only been about 1 degree F. warmer than here this year. Here you have almost been able to swim every place with all the moisture in the air.
