Description The ART HOUSE is a not-for-profit ‘Community Interest Company’, formed in 2008 by four like-minded ecocentrics with a passion for art, community, and above all, cake. History: The Art House was founded by it’s directors - Jani Franck, Nina Fraser, Ziggy Woodward and Paul Bickmore. Most of The Art House crew are volunteers, contributing a wide variety of skills. There are around 80 volunteers and counting, most of whom work several hours a week. If you think you may want to join the crew, please ask about volunteering. The ART HOUSE aims to Promote the Arts by: Providing a space for small-scale, local and grassroots creativity. Encouraging individual creative fulfilment through the provision of low cost workshops, art activities and inspiring surroundings. Supporting local artists, facilitators and makers by offering opportunities to exhibit and sell their work. The heART HOUSE aims to Enhance our Local and Global Community by Facilitating local economic regeneration through recycling money in the local community using local and independent products and services when available. Providing a safe, welcoming and friendly meeting space for all members of the community. Promoting local events, activities, campaigns and groups with similar aims. Benefiting our volunteers and members by offering rewarding work and recognition for their contribution. Working in co-operation with other organisations and businesses with similar aims. Respecting, exploring and celebrating cultural diversity. Considering global responsibilities, fair trade, ethical issues and animal welfare in our choice of products and services. The eARTh HOUSE encourages positive, sustainable & healthy living by: Implementing the most sustainable possible options for all of our activities. Striving to reduce, re-use and recycle and to minimise our carbon footprint in all aspects of the business. Serving wholesome vegan and vegetarian food and drink – organic and locally produced wherever possible. Supporting and promoting (non party political) environmental groups and campaigns. Be underpinned by the principles of ecological, social and financial sustainability.
