Your personal background.
I am a 70 year old ex hospital pharmacist. I also have an OU degree in maths and IT. I retired early because of acute multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) to cationic surfactants and biocides and artificial fragrances. These are now so widespread in the environment (perfume, after-shave, air freshener, disinfectants, washing powder, fabric conditioner etc) that I now live as a virtual recluse in the Shropshire countryside seeing no-one other than my wife. So it is not just global warming which bothers me but chemical pollution as well. It worries me that more people will succumb to this condition and that the asthma epidemic in the Western World is partly caused by the uncontrolled use of millions of not-fully-tested chemicals in both the industrial and domestic environment.
I still work part time designing bespoke software for hospital pharmacy. One of my programs, which calculates and documents intravenous nutrition is used in half of the major hospitals in Britain and may soon be extended for use in Europe and eventually into most parts of the world.
My other interests are working in my one acre garden, cycling round the Shropshire lanes, and googling for anything scientific on the Internet.

I keep my computer running all day because my customers might need a talk-through of one of my programs. Most of the time it sits there doing nothing. So why not put it to good use?
I have always lived in the countryside and respected the environment. We use bicycles for most journeys and use a car very little. I deplore the blatant waste of fossil fuels by most people in the West and increasingly in China and India
