The world's largest climate forecasting experiment for the 21st century.

Profile: Thyme Lawn

Your personal background.
The first 22 and a bit years of my life were spent in Aberdeen, but I've lived a few years more in Dorset. I work as a software engineer for a small company in a niche telecoms market.

Most of my spare time is taken up running a charity which provides voluntary labour for conservation and footpath work in Dorset. Other interests include walking, cycling, cross-country skiing and camping.

For the curious, my user name was chosen to reflect the fact that my front garden is planted with a carpet of various varieties of creeping thyme, and it's become a real haven for invertebrates in a suburban wilderness.
Your opinions about climateprediction.net
I've run various DC projects for more than 10 years, but have concentrated on CPDN since the formal launch of the pre-BOINC "Classic" experiment in September 2003.

I believe that climate change is one of the biggest threats facing the planet, and that it's mainly down to human activities. Although the effects on humanity do concern me, I'm more worried about the potential loss of flora and fauna that are less able to adapt and/or migrate.
